Season Three

A House Divided
Kid and Jimmy set our to rebuild an Express station in Rock Creek. The station had been destroyed by abolitionists. The riders, Teaspoon and Rachel move from Sweetwater to the Rock Creek Station.

Jesse
The riders befriend a 14 year old Jesse James who seeks vengeance against a gang of outlaws that killed his guardian. The outlaws are looking for the money that they stole and hid in an unmarked grave, but someone stole it from them. Meanwhile, Buck and Noah face prejustice from the owner of Rock Creek's restuarant who will not allow them in his establishment. The restauant owner has a change of heart after Buck and Noah save his life when the outlaws try to kill him for stealing their money. After the outlaws have been defeated, Jesse decides to stay in Rock Creek.

The Blood of Others
Jimmy, Kid and Lou have to deliver a long-sought after outlaw to his hanging. The outlaw's name is Alias Mills. Elias Mills turns out to be more honorable then ornery. After being injured, Kid is forced to turn back, but when he encounters an old enemy of Elias' named Gilmore, Kid heads back to warn Lou and Jimmy. Jimmy can't help but see a part of himself in Elias. He feels that he might end up like Elias. Lou consoles Jimmy and he kisses her. After running away from Gilmore, Jimmy allows Elias to visit his daughter who he never knew. They encounter Gilmore again, but Kid arrives just in time to save them. Jimmy attempts to release Elias, but Elias insists that it's his time to die. Elias is hung after they reach their intended destination.

Between Rock Creek and A Hard Place
Noah befriends a young woman named Casey Ellis and her younger brother Quinn. Noah also tangles with an unlikable Army recruiter named Lebrant who winds up murdered. Noah becomes the prime suspect in the killing since Noah had gotten into a fight with the soldier. It's revealed that Casey killed Lebrant when he violently attacted her. She isn't charged for killing Lebrant since it was self-defence.

The Presence of Mine Enemies
Ike has feelings for a young woman named Emily Metcalf. Emily's father is a gambler who clashes with a dangerous card sharp dandy. When Emily's father is killed by this dangerous gambler, Emily confronts him in the saloon with the intention of killing him. When Ike barges in to protect Emily, the gambler shoots him. Ike McSwain dies in this episode. Ike's best friend, Buck gives Ike a traditional Indian send-off.

Survivors
Cody is befriended by a boy whose windowed mother makes Cody's heart race, but she is forced to be involved with gun-running outlaws. Meanwhile, Buck who is trying to deal with his grief over the lost of his best friend, Ike, goes off by himself. He encounters a woman whoes family was killed. After helping her bury her loved ones, he delivers her baby. Buck tells her of his friend, Ike and she gives her baby the middle name 'Ike.'

The Intiation
After witnessing a bank robbery in a neighboring town, Jimmy catches the leader of the gang of robbers. The robber is Jesse's brother, Frank James. He uses the stolen money to help support the Southern cause. After Jesse helps Frank escape from the Rock Creek jailhouse, Jimmy and Teapoon go after them. Frank James escapes capture. Meanwhile, Kid makes the difficult decision to return to the South if war breaks out.

Just Like Old Times
A childhood friend of Kid's named Doreatha brings back memories. However, her husband, Garth, another old acquaintance, brings nothing but trouble. Garth's illegal activity is revealed when an enemy tries to kill Doreatha. Kid arrives just in time to kill the would-be murderer. After this incident, Garth is killed by another enemy who claims that Garth cheated him out of a lot of money. Doreatha disposes of the money, but she is killed by the same man who murdered her husband. Lou helps Kid understand that he is not alone and that she is there to help him get through this hard time.

Spirits
When the riders chase after a gang of horse theives, they meet a charaismatic division agent named Mike Stalder who has been injured by the horse theives. Stalder has a drinking problem that spills over onto Rachel, who falls off the wagon when she starts to fall for him. The outlaws return to get revenge against Stalder because he had killed one of the outlaw's brother. The outlaws take Rachel hostage. The riders and Stalder defeat the outlaws and rescue Rachel.

A Tiger's Tale
Cody and Noah bite off more then they can chew trying to deliver a Tiger named Pete to St. Joseph while protecting nuns and a noviate they meet enroute. Cody believes he has feeling for the noviate, Elizabeth Dooley. Even though Elizabeth admits that she also has feelings for Cody, she decides to stick to her religious faith and become a nun. Along the way to St. Joesph, they have to defeat a couple of poachers who are interested in Pete's hide. Noah and Cody eventually decide to release Pete to the wild. Meanwhile, Jesse developes a crush on Lou. He gets Teaspoon to write love letters not knowing who Jesse intends to give the letters to. After receiving a letter, Lou mistakenly thinks that the letter is from Kid. After talking to Teaspoon, Jesse comes to understand that Lou can't be more than a friend.

Good Night Sweet Charlotte
A former prostitute named Charlotte comes to Rock Creek hoping to start a new life. Her presence brings back bitter memories for Lou of a man named Wicks who had attacted Lou when she was young. Lou had worked for Wicks doing laundry. Charlotte kills herself after Wicks persues her and trys to take her back to St Jo with him. Lou tells Rachel about her past. Wicks confronts Lou while on an Express run. Wicks wants Lou to get the money that Charlotte stole from him and give it back to him. Kid, who doesn't know of Lou's past with Wicks, arrives in time to stops Lou from killing WIcks. After getting back to town, Wicks is killed by Charlotte's friend, Travis. Lou decides to tell Kid about her past. Meawhile, Jimmy befriends a wounded Lakota Indian named Red Sky while out on the trail. After Red Sky dies from his injuries, Jimmy brings him home to his tribe.

Song of Isaiah
While visiting his sister, Celinda, Jimmy becomes affected by her and her husband's anti-slavery causes. Jimmy finds himself riding with a band of vigilante abolitionists led by a zealous man named Isaiah Burke and his wife Rosemary. Kid ends up helping Jimmy.

Spies
With war possible, Kid gets mixed up in espionage involving a charming spy named Margerotte. Southern sympathizers who are dressed like union soldiers are trying to make sure that the North doesn't get a gold shipment so they can steal it for themselves. Margerotte is killed by the leader of the gang of sympathizers. Lou poses as Margeratte to get a copy of the gold shipment schedule and prevent the South from getting the gold. The plan is foiled by the southern sympathizers. The riders get into a gun fight with the outlaw sympathizers. The gold schedule is burned.

Shadowmen
The riders have to deal with an overzealous Pinkerton agent in Rock Creek who is on the trail of a murderous outlaw named Lynch. The appearence of a damsel in destress, Marie, distracts Teaspoon. It turns out that Marie is more than what she seems to be. Jimmy finds out that she in involved with the outlaws they are trying to capture.

Mask of Fear
Mob mentality grips Sweetwater after a Polish immigrant convicted of killing his wife is released from prison and returns to Rock Creek. It is revealed from a Diary enty in his wife's personal Diary that the man who killed her wasn't her husband. The man who killed her was actually one of the witnesses that help get her husband convicted.

Dark Brother
A childhood friend of Buck's named Camille a.k.a. Little Bird and her husband pay a visit. Camille and Buck had grown up together with the Kiowa tribe. When Camille is stricken with a mysterious illness, Buck feels powerless to help her. However, an old Indian seems to know what is making Camille ill. The old Indian tells Buck that she is in grave danger and that an evil spirit is trying to steal Camille's soul. He convinces Buck to take Camille and venture on a journey that could save Camille's life and soul. Along the way, the old Indian tells Buck the story of two brothers. One brother was good and the other was evil. The evil brother had killed the good brother. The brothers are doing an eternal battle against each other. The evil brother's spirit is the evil spirit trying to take Camille's soul. The old Indian is the good brother, White Feather. Their journey takes them to Indian holy ground. White Feather and Buck try to force the evil spirit out of Camille's body. When the evil spirit exits her body, Buck fights and defeats him. Camille's soul has been saved.

The Road Not Taken
Jesse tags along with Jimmy, who has personal reasons for nailing the killer he's tracking. The killer, Lloyd Dobbins, used to be a marshal and Jimmy used to be under his employment doing office jobs. Dobbins tricked Jimmy into believing that an innocent man, Sam Leland was robbing gold shipments. Leland had hid some gold Dobbins instructions to keep the gold safe from outlaws that didn't actually exist. Jimmy tracked Leland and led Dobbins right to him. Leland was killed by Dobbins. Jimmy felt guilty because he played a part in an innocent man's death. Dobbins believes that Leland's widow and young son, Seth know where the gold is located. He kidnaps Seth thinking that he will lead him to the gold. Jimmy and Jesse get into a shoot-out with Dobbins and Jesse shoots and kills Dobbins. They return Seth to his mother. Meanwhile, Cody's published story about the Pony Express is taken very personally by the other riders.

The Sacrifice
Teaspoon and Jimmy set out to restore order to the town of Davinport which has been besieged by outlaws. On the way there, they rescue a slave named Esmund Johnson from being hanged by slave owners. Johnson dies from his injuries. Meanwhile, Kid and Lou also head to Davinport to spend time together. Lou dresses up like a lady and Kid dresses in his Sunday best. After eating dinner, they take a walk. Their romantic evening in interrupted when just as Kid is about to ask Lou a question. A gang of outlaws rides into town and kills a lawman. They capture one of the outlaws, a young man named Dawkins who won't reveal his first name. After the outlaws attact the town again, Kid, Lou and Dawkins ride out to tract the outlaws. After Kid is abducted by the outlaws, Dawkins helps Lou rescue him. Dawkin is shot by one of the outlaws. Dawkins tells Lou his first name is 'Adrian' before he dies. He had sacrificed his life to save Lou and Kid. After returning to Davinport, they pay their last respects to Adrian Dawkins. Kid asks Lou to marry him, and Lou accepts his proposal. The proposal is witnessed by Teaspoon and Jimmy.

Leasons Learned
A slippery killer whose convictions has been overturned arrives in Rock Creek seeking vengeance. Meanwhile, Teaspoon's 3rd wife Polly arrives in town and buys a saloon. The riders help her fix up the saloon.

The Debt
Jimmy is hot on the trail of a new rider, Matt who disappeared in a town overrun by bad guys. Upon his arrival in Fenton, Jimmy suspects that something is wrong when he observes the fear in the local townspeople. After Jimmy finds Matt's body, a man named Emmett tells Jimmy of the outlaws who are terrorizing the town. These outlaws had killed Matt. Jimmy finally agrees to help the townspeople by facing the outlaws. Meanwhile, Lou saddles up with cold feet to by a wedding dress in Senica. When Lou hears about the outlaws that are terrorizing Fenton, Lou decides to ride off to Fenton to help Jimmy. Jimmy and Lou fight the outlaws with assistance from Emmett. After defeating the outlaws, Jimmy and Lou head for home. On the way, they make a detour to Senica where Lou purchases the wedding dress she picked out. She no longer has any lingering doubts about her marriage to Kid.

'Til Death Do Us Part
Part 1

With the war and the end of the Pony Express just on the horizon, Lou and Kid plan the most important day of their lives: their wedding day. the Army comes to town hoping to recruit young men to fight in the war. Teaspoon is very upste when Cody inlists in the Army. Cody believes that the Pony Express is dying and he doesn't want to stay around to see it happen. Jimmy investigates the circumstances surrounding Isiah Burke's murder and he meets with Isiah's wife, Rosemary. Rosemary has an encoded list of names of people who are freeing slaves. She shares this information with Jimmy, but she tells him not to share this knowledge with Kid because he's a southern. When Kid finds out, he is very angry and gets into a fight with Jimmy. Jimmy arrives to attend Lou and Kid's wedding ceremony dispite the disagreement he and Kid had. Kid and Lou are married. We do not find out Kid's real name.
Part 2
Frank James comes to town to take Jesse home with him. Jesse is confused about where his loyities are. Noah is denied inlistment into the Army because of his skin color. Noah is killed in a fight between the Army and Southern Raiders. Jesse thinks he is to blame for Noah's death because of his brother, Frank's involvement in the fight. Jesse departs with his brother. At Noah's funeral, Teaspoon gives a touching speach. They all say their good-byes.
