MASQUERADING ALL DIFFERENT Back to Western Readers Digest
In her role as the strong-willed "Lou McCloud," she plays a young female orphan masquerading as a boy so she can save enough money to get her younger brother and sister out of a St. Joseph orphanage. "'Lou' is constantly suppressing her femininity, so that her 'secret' will reamain protected, however," she says with a sly smile, "'The Kid' is already on to her."
Yvonne reveals that not only is it the fact she's surrounded by men all the time, but also the role itself that gets to her occasionally. "Sometimes I read books written by my favorite female author. I love reading her journals--that helps me get in touch with femininity again," she laughs.
"The guys and I are definitely like a family though," she admits assuredly. "We get along great, but since we usually work six days a week, 12 hours a day, we don't do things together on our days off as a rule. Sometimes, girlfriends and wives of the guys are around, which is really nice---I love doing things with them, like thrift shops, flea markets and antique stores."
Of all the guys, Yvonne says she probably spends most of her time with Gregg. "He's very open and caring and thoughtful. Thoughtful is a great word for him. He doesn't react to anything you say immediately. He'll think about it and sort of help you talk about things.
"Josh was a little harder for me to get to know," reveals Yvonne, "because he's very responsible and poetic, a very deep thinker. Consquently, on the set, we don't talk about things that aren't chit-chatty. He's very intriguing. Ty is sweet and wonderful, and Steve is very funny and constantly reminding me not to ake life so seriously.
"Travis is an imp," she continues. "He's a challenge and a lot of energy to be around. We tend to go at it on occasion, but not in a bad way--in a playful way," she laughs, adding, "They're all different. That's what's so great about them!"
