England

Immediately after visiting Malawi, Mary and I headed to England. Mary was studying at the University of Plymouth and I went to stay with her for a bit. Plymouth is where the Pilgrims took off from, way back when. I had a great time staying with her, meeting her friends, shopping and recovering from Africa (I was still a bit sick). We took a day trip to Penzance (the pirates, remember?) where we went to St. Michael's Mount. We also went to the Wee Wee Dos Festival at Padstow where we took in some Irish music, local festivities and sat near the harbor for the afternoon. I was sad to leave after almost two weeks but by this time I had arranged to move on to Greece.

Tea Time

Can you believe that this is the very first time I'd ever had tea?? Good thing I had Mary there to tell me how to serve it (with cream and sugar). This is the areas traditional cream tea - where you get tea and scones with jam and clotted cream.

Padstow Harbor

This is the harbor at Padstow, a smaller town about an hour from Plymouth. We had taken a bus tour of sorts after a very late night out but it was worth it! We just enjoyed the scenery, soaked up what sun we could and relaxed by all of these decorated boats!

Gotta love the helmet...

We also went horseback riding one afternoon with a few others from Mary's flat. Please note there is no horn on the saddle. I had no idea how to hold on! Most of the time I just pried my fingers under the saddle with hopes that my horse wouldn't trot off. No problem there, my horse didn't like to keep up with the rest and I often lagged behind the group. Turns out the poor thing had a rock the size of my fist in his shoe.
