WALKING IN AUTHORITY
– PART II
The information I want to provide here is to help you
become acquainted with your heavenly Father and His Word. You need to know how to use the Word of God effectively,
as part of your authority as a believer.
Not only does the Word
of God affect your life, but also it will affect others through you.
With
the Word of God you will be able to counsel accurately those who come to you
for advice.
If
you can’t counsel someone with the Word, you don’t have anything with which to
counsel. Walk in God’s counsel, and
prize His wisdom.
Psalm
1 tells us, “Blessed, happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable is the person
who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly, following their advice,
their plans and purposes, nor stands submissive and inactive in the path where
sinners walk, nor sits down to relax and rest where the scornful and the
mockers gather. BUT, his delight and
desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law, the precepts, the
instructions, the teachings of God, he habitually meditates, ponders and
studies by day and by night.
New
Testament references for this are Romans 13:8-10, Galatians 3:1-29 and II
Timothy 3:16. You can look these up on
your own.
Verse
3 of this Psalm further states, “and he shall be like a tree firmly planted and
tended by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season;
its leaf also shall not fade or wither and everything he does shall prosper and
come to maturity.
So,
if you aren’t presently accomplishing what those 3 verses tell, perhaps you
aren’t spending time in God’s Word every day.
Remember from my past teachings.
God’s given us a free will and it’s up to us to exercise it by choosing
to do the things God’s shown us we need to be doing.
In
today’s society, people are looking for SOMEONE they can count on and trust.
I
am so fortunate to be married to my husband – Gene White. He says what he means, means what he says, is
a man of integrity, and I don’t usually question what he says about
something.
So
it is, when people come to you, you can point them to that portion of God’s
Word that is the answer to his problem.
You become victorious, trustworthy, and the one with the answer, for
your heart is fixed and established on His Word.
Look
at Psalm 112:5. It is well with the
person who deals generously and lends, who conducts his affairs with
justice.
Read
the rest of that Psalm for yourself. It
contains great information and shows you what you can do and be.
Once
you begin looking into God’s Word, you must commit to ordering your
conversation according to the Word of God.
That’s
what we call being a “doer” of the Word.
Faith always has a good
report. You can’t pray effectively for
yourself, for someone, or about something and then talk negatively about the
matter.
Look
at Matthew 12:34-37. This is very serious
business here. It is about the words you
speak.
Verse
34 says, “You offspring of vipers! How
can you speak good things when you are evil or wicked? For out of the fullness, the overflow, the
superabundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.”
Verse
35 says, “The good man from his inner good treasure flings forth good things,
and the evil man out of his inner evil storehouse flings forth evil things.”
Verse
36 says, “BUT I TELL YOU, ON THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT MEN WILL HAVE TO GIVE ACCOUNT
FOR EVERY IDLE (INOPERATIVE, NONWORKING) WORD THEY SPEAK.”
Verse
37 is even more stern and something we should really take to heart. It says, “For by your words you will be
justified and acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned and
sentenced.”
Creflo
Dollar has a series out called, “Your Mouth Is The Master Key to Your
Life.” It is very enlightening.
Another
verse that will show us the seriousness of what we say is in Proverbs
18:21. It says that death and life are
in the power of the tongue. That’s why
it’s so important to know the Word of God and speak what He says, not what the
natural world has to say about it.
Back
to my point about praying God’s Word about something or for someone, then begin
to talk contrary to what you have just prayed is being double minded.
Look
in James 1:6-8. These are the 3 verses
that talk about being double minded. It
says that the person won’t receive anything from God.
In
Ephesians 4:29-30, it is written, (I) “let no foul or polluting language, nor
evil word, nor unwholesome or worthless talk (ever) come out of your mouth; BUT
only such speech as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others,
as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and give
grace (God’s favor) to those who hear it.
AND (I) do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, (do not offend, or vex, or
sadden Him) by who you were sealed (marked, branded as God’s own, secured) for
the day of redemption – of final deliverance through Christ from evil and the
consequences of sin.”
Allow
these words to sink into your innermost being.
Our Father has much, so very much, to say about that little member, the
tongue. (James 3) (I) Give the devil no
opportunity by getting into worry, un-forgiveness, strife, and criticism. (I) put a stop to idle and foolish
talking. (Ephesians 4:27; 5:4). You are to be a blessing to others.
Look
at Galatians 6:10. It says, “So then as
occasion and opportunity open up to us, let us do good (morally) to all people
(not only being useful or profitable to them, but also doing what is for their
spiritual good and advantage). Be
mindful to be a blessing, especially to those of the household of faith (those
who belong to God’s family with you, the believers.)
Talk
the answer, not the problem. THE ANSWER
IS IN GOD’S WORD. You must have
knowledge of that Word – revelation knowledge.
I
Corinthians 2:7-16 is your scripture to read about this.
As
an intercessor, unite with others in prayer.
United prayer is a might weapon in the Body of Christ. It’s definitely part of your authority as a
believer in the body of Christ.
Believe
you receive when you pray. Confess the
Word. Hold fast to my confession of
faith in God’s Word. Allow your spirit
by the Holy Spirit to pray. Praise God
for the victory now before any manifestation.
Walk by faith and not by sight.
(II Corinthians 5:7 says, “For we walk by faith – we regulate our lives
and conduct ourselves by our conviction or belief respecting man’s relationship
to God and divine things, with trust and holy fervor; thus we walk NOT BY SIGHT
OR APPEARANCE.”
Here’s
a “for instance.”
I
am selling my car. My husband and I
placed an ad in the newspaper – we did our part here. Then, we prayed a “prayer of agreement based
on God’s Word that says, “where two people agree on earth as touching anything,
it shall be done for them of our Father in heaven.”
We
used our natural wisdom to determine that we didn’t need two cars at the
present time and we could be better stewards of our money by not having to pay
insurance on two cars. It isn’t that we
can’t afford it, it’s just not a good use of our money to maintain a car that
just sits in the garage. So, we did what
we should by placing the ad in the paper and then praying the prayer of
agreement for God to bring the right person along to buy it. As far as I’m concerned, the car is
sold. It will happen in God’s time. I won’t go about saying things like, “oh
maybe that car won’t sell. I wonder if
anyone will buy that car. NO, I thank
God because the car is sold now. I
believe I receive the answer to my petition when my husband and I prayed for
it. As I said before, God will do it in
his perfect time. I trust him and “cast
the care of it off on Him.” Therefore, I
don’t worry about it at all. As you
develop this lifestyle, and learn to know God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit,
you will become very comfortable with being able to trust them. They will never fail you in any way, shape or
form, as long as you keep doing your part.
In
whatever it is you have prayed about, don’t be moved by adverse
circumstances. As satan attempts to
challenge you, resist him steadfast in the faith – learning about the FORCE OF
PATIENCE that an actual under-girding force that will sustain you while you walk
it out. Take the Sword of the Spirit and
the shield of faith and quench his every fiery dart.
Ephesians
6:16 says, “Lift up over all the covering shield of saving faith, upon which
you can quench all the flaming missiles of the wicked one. Verse 17 says, “and take the helmet of
salvation and the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God” and
Verse
18 that says, Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the
Spirit, with all manner of prayer and entreaty.
To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance,
interceding in behalf of all saints, God’s consecrated people.
The
entire substitutionary work of Christ was for you. Satan is now a defeated foe because Jesus
conquered him. (Colossians 2:14-15 says,
“Having cancelled and blotted out and wiped away the handwriting of the note,
bond, with its legal decrees and demands which was in force and stood against
us, hostile to us. This note with its
regulations, decrees, and demands, He set aside and cleared completely out of
our way by nailing it to His cross.
Verse
15 is so awesome – God disarmed the principalities and power that were ranged
against us and made a bold display and public example of them, in triumphing
over them in Him, Christ and in it, the cross.
Further
in Revelation 12:11, satan is overcome by the blood of the lamb and the Word of
our testimony.
Notice
here the Word of our testimony should be the Word of God. That’s how we overcome our enemy in our
authority as believers, is use the Word of God pertaining to whatever situation
it is we are facing and overcome it.
In
I Timothy 6:12, we are to fight the GOOD fight of faith – yes, there will be
fights spiritually, but we win them, if we stick with the Word of God.
I
Peter 5:9 says, “withstand him; be firm in faith against his onset—rooted,
established, strong, immovable, and determined, knowing that the same identical
sufferings are appointed to your brotherhood – the whole body of Christians
throughout the world.
Our
desire should be to please and bless our Father. As we pray in line with His Word, He joyfully
hears that you, His son or daughter, are living and walking in the Truth.
III
John 4 says, “I have no greater joy than this, to hear that my spiritual
children are living their lives in the Truth.
The
Truth that He’s talking about here is the Bible, God’s Word.
How
exciting to know that the prayers of the body of Christ are forever in the
throne room. Revelation 5:8 is your
reference for this.
Praise
God for His Word and the limitlessness of prayer in the name of Jesus. It belongs to every child of God. Therefore, run with patience the race that is
set before you, looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith. Hebrews 12:1-2. God’s Word is able to build you up and give
you your rightful inheritance among God’s set apart ones.
Commit
yourself to pray and to pray correctly by approaching the throne with your
mouth filled with His Word!
