HOW WOULD
Taken from the book “LOVE
STORIES” by missionary Pat Bates
If Jesus came today to
Would we judge Him according to the “worlds” standards? Probably so!
q We might examine His background and say . . . “He is just a
carpenter. He was born in poverty and
his parentage is questionable. Why
should we listen to him?
q We might take a close look at the twelve men on his staff and say . .
.”They have sorted backgrounds and most of them aren’t even educated. They certainly need some lessons in manners,
their rudeness is appalling.”
q We might read accounts of his “failures” in the newspapers and say . . .
“He even bombed in his own hometown.
Hey, those people have known him all of his life, they should know.”
q We might see programs on T.V., with eloquent hosts informing us of his
latest crusade, and then proceed to tell us how and what to think about him.
q We might hear of his “Cleaning out of the church”, and say
. . ”I figured he was dangerous. He needs his head
examined by a good psychiatrist.
Besides, he violated those people’s civil rights . . . they ought to sue
him.
q We would hear of his arrest and might say . . . “I’m sure glad I didn’t
support his ministry . . . I thought all along that he wasn’t on the up and
up. There is no telling what all he has
done.”
q We might see that his ministry only lasted three years and judge it as a
miserable failure.
q We might see his death, and say . . . “See there, you reap what you sow .
. . you just can’t go around claiming to be the Son of God.!
OR…
WE MIGHT BELIEVE HIS WORDS AND HIS ACTIONS AND SAY . . .
”BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF
THE LORD!”
