DISCERNING THE TIMES AND THE SEASONS 1 Tim. 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times
some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and
doctrines of devils; The Spirit of God speaks to us today in regard to the times in
which we are living. We want to be led by the Holy Spirit in order that we
understand the seriousness of these times. But, first of all, I want to release “the joy of the Lord” on
your behalf for the times in which we are living. Some of us have suffered medically and need the joy of the
Lord to be our strength. So, I want to share some medical jokes with you to
put a smile on our faces! Jokes: During the course of being interviewed by the press, the noted
famous doctor was asked by a reporter: “Tell me, Doctor, did you ever make any really serious
mistakes in your career?” “Yes, I did,” came the doctor’s reply with a heavy sigh… …”I once cured a millionaire in one visit.” A man went to visit his doctor. “Doctor, my arm hurts bad. Can
you check it out please?, the man pleaded. The doctor rolled up the man’s sleeve and suddenly heard the
arm talk. “Hello Doctor”, says the arm. “could you lend me twenty bucks please? I’m desperate.” The doctor says, “Aha! I see the problem. Your arm is broke!” A hospital surgeon told his patient, “I have some good news
and some bad news. Which do you want to hear first?” The patient says, “Give me the bad news first.” The doctor says, “We are going to have to amputate both of
your feet.” The patient says, “Oh, no! That’s terrible! What could
possibly be the good news then?” The doctor says, “The patient in the next bed wants to buy
your slippers.” A woman rushes to see her doctor, looking very much worried
and all strung out. She rattles off, “Doctor, take a look at me. When I woke
up this morning, I looked at myself in the mirror and saw my hair all wiry
and frazzled up, my skin was all wrinkled and pasty, my eyes were bloodshot
and bugging out, and I had this corpse-like look on my face! What’s wrong
with me, Doctor?” The doctor looked her over for a couple of moments, then
calmly says, “Well, I can tell you one thing…there ain’t nothing wrong with
your eyesight.” Scripture
Reading: Ephes. 5:15-18 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as
wise, [16] Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. [17] Wherefore be
ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. [18] And be
not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; I’m
talking to you this morning about “Discerning the Times and The Seasons”. Daniel
2:21 And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings,
and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them
that know understanding: God reveals the deep and secret things - He is the God of all
revelation. He dwells in a light which no man can approach unto (I Tim.
6:16). Until the latter-day outpouring of the Holy Spirit at the turn
of the century the world had little changed from ancient times. The steam
locomotive and telegraph had made a vast difference, but other than that,
things were little different than during the days of Christ. But, since the Advent of the Holy Spirit, the entire
complexion of man’s ingenuity changed. Consequently, ninety-nine percent of
all inventions have taken place since the year 1900. The Holy Spirit was greatly in the world after Pentecost, but
God did not see fit at that time to “reveal the deep and secret things”, as
He has done in these last days, fulfilling Daniel’s Prophecy of Daniel 12:4. Daniel
12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even
to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be
increased. However, the greatest Revelation is even yet to come. When
Jesus second advent occurs, the world will experience a revelation of light
and knowledge such as it has never known before. 1
Thes. 5:1-2 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need
that I write unto you. [2] For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the
Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. The Tribe of Issachar: Genesis
30:17-18 And God hearkened unto Leah, and she conceived, and bare Jacob
the fifth son. [18] And Leah said, God hath given me my hire, because I have
given my maiden to my husband: and she called his name Issachar. One way we can interpret the times is to use the Hebrew
calendar. This is a year to move from one dimension of glory to the next. Issachar was the tribe that knew how to move into the new by
understanding times and seasons and releasing wisdom on what Israel should do
to make every transition in their history successful. So, we today, should know
the times we are living in and what we should do to ready ourselves to
advance in the earth. Various prophets have expressed words for this year of 2008.
And, I read their words later after writing mine and was once again amazed at
how the Spirit of God brings the same things forth through various prophets! I entitled the word God gave me for this year: “The Greatness
of His Power”. It talks about a new emphasis on the inner man - that pride
will be dethroned and hindrances removed that have kept us from God’s best
and highest priorities. I saw believers as diamonds with seven facets representing the
following anointings: 1. Daniel anointing: excellent spirit, supernatural knowledge
and wisdom 2. Elijah anointing: Preparing way of the Lord 3. Elisha anointing: double-portion anointing 4. Joel anointing: last-day prophetic anointing 5. Nehemiah anointing: quick work of rebuilding 6. Esther anointing: standing in the gap and preparing to
stand before the king 7. Final Apostolic Emphasis: Holy Ghost Power I saw this day that we are living in as the shortest season
but the most powerful. I saw believers shaking off the past hindrances and
these were as “grave clothes” falling off of them, supernaturally. Other
prophets with words for 2008: Bob Jones said that “That which
is good is the enemy of what is best.” Watch out for complacency. A new level
of faith will come forth - walk in solid faith. It is a year of new
beginnings. Todd Bentley said it is the year
of the double portion. Instead of shame, it will be double honor. He said to
take in spiritual calories through prayer, worship, praying in tongues, and
staying plugged into fellowship. You are only as strong as your core and if
you want to bring forth the dynamos power of God it will depend on the
strength of your inner man. Dynamos Gr. Dynamic; great power; strength and
ability to accomplish something. (Lu. 9:1). David, during one of his most
difficult trials, strengthened himself in the Lord (I Sam. 30:6). He went
into the secret place, called for the priest and asked for the ephod (holy
garment). Ultimately, he wanted to seek the Lord, and in the secret place he
received God’s counsel as he strengthened himself - “Pursue, for you shall
surely overtake them and without fail recover all.” We are to declare the season we are in, stay the course and
don’t let it go.. See it through until God makes a change. This is a year of great anointing. Leviticus 8 describes the
time of consecration of Aaron and his sons, the seven days of holiness - and
then on the eighth day they were ready, they had met God’s requirements, and
were anointed to perform certain priestly duties on the eight day. If we want
the anointing, it will be released to those who are prepared by our intimacy
with Jesus, the Anointed One, and by being a holy living sacrifice unto Him. In Lev. 9:6, 23 Aaron and his sons did the things God
commanded them to do that they were anointed for and the glory of the Lord
appeared to all the people. The anointing and the glory of the Lord go
hand-in-hand. There will be a double portion-anointing and glory for those
who hunger after God, who walk uprightly and who honor the anointing! There is coming an authority in 2008 when we will see greater
deliverances, spontaneous deliverances, and instantaneous deliverances by
supernatural intervention. This year has already begun, but it is ushering in a new
season of the power and glory of God, such as we have never seen to this
extent before! We are a diamond in the hands of our God with each side radiating
the glory of our Lord and His anointing! ______________ “Prophecies for 2008”; Bob Jones, Todd
