A
RARE ANOINTING
Missionary Esther
Thornton,
Dear
Friends,
This is
not an easy day in which we are living but it can be a glorious day! For,
though evil has been released upon the earth in abundance; yet the Spirit of
the Lord is far greater in power than anything the enemy can do! And, God has a
“unique” or “rare” anointing for us to meet the needs of this hour.
We have
heard that God is using “ordinary” people to do “extraordinary” things in our
day. We have also heard that we don’t have to be “victims” of our
circumstances, but we can be “victors”.
Isaiah
61:1-3
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me;
because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath
sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and
the opening of the prison to them that are bound; [2] To proclaim the acceptable year of the
Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; [3] To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion,
to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of
praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of
righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.
Jesus
suffered both physical and mental pain, yet He was able to complete His
mission. We can only develop character through trial and suffering. Then, we
can heal the brokenhearted and set the captives free, as Jesus did. Hurting
people are all around us. God wants to sensitize our hearts to be able to help
them. Even in churches, there are hurting people. In every pew, there is a
broken heart.
I.
God will use anyone who is willing to be used:
(1)
God does not consult your past to determine your future. He has chosen to forget all your sins
that you have confessed and to throw them into the deepest seas to be
remembered against you no more.
(2)
God will use men or women who are dedicated to Him:
Joyce
Meyer was a simple Lutheran housewife when she began her teaching ministry. She
now has a mega church with a large outreach.
Marilyn
Hickey says she has more energy now, at 75 than she had when she was 30. She
spends about 60% of her time traveling, mostly to lead healing crusades in
Muslim countries - the other 40% in churches and conferences and television
programs.
II.
We must line ourselves up with what God is saying.
An
example of this is how we feel about
God
promises to bless the man or nation that blesses the chosen people of
III.
We want to create an atmosphere for the presence of God to manifest.
We do this
by lining our lives up with the Word of God and giving Him the freedom to do as
He desires to do. I we try to control every situation we limit God. We must be
open to Him to be able to receive what He wants to do through us.
IV.
There are 5 characteristics of a person who has “a rare anointing”: power, endurance, depth, love, and
relationship.
(1)
Power:
Acts 1:8
But ye shall receive power, after that the
Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in
(2)
Endurance:
Matthew
24:13
But he that shall endure unto the end, the
same shall be saved.
Mark
4:14-20
The sower soweth the word. [15]
And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have
heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the
word that was sown in their hearts. [16] And
these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have
heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; [17] And have no root in themselves, and so
endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended.
[18] And these are they which are sown among
thorns; such as hear the word, [19]
And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of
other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh
unfruitful. [20] And
these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and
receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold,
some sixty, and some an hundred.
(3)
Depth:
Job
5:8-9
I would seek unto God, and unto God would I
commit my cause: [9] Which doeth great things and
unsearchable; marvelous things without number:
Psalm
42:7
Deep calleth unto
deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone
over me.
Proverbs
27:17
Iron sharpeneth
iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his
friend.
We must
have a depth of substance from God in order to please Him and do His bidding.
(4)
Love:
1 John
4:20
If a man says, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love
God whom he hath not seen?
Matthew
5:43-48
Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. [44] But I say unto you, Love your enemies,
bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them
which despitefully use you, and persecute you; [45]
That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. [46] For if ye love them which love you, what
reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? [47] And if ye salute your brethren only, what
do ye more than others? do
not even the publicans so? [48]
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is
in heaven is perfect.
Publicans:
tax-gatherers. They were
despised by the Jews, so any reference to being less than this class was the
lowest thing that could be said of anyone religious. In other words, in
So, Jesus
was saying for us not to just love those who love us, as even the Publicans do.
(5)
Relationship:
Psalm
133:1-3
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for
brethren to dwell together in unity! [2]
It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard,
even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; [3] As the dew of Hermon,
and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord
commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.
To walk
in unity, we must love others unconditionally and forgive them. If we let
someone who is irritating us, and even when they are in the wrong, we react to
that in a bad way, we are letting them destroy our relationship with God. Be
sure the grass on your own side of the fence is clear and pure.
V. Reach the Lost at any Cost:
We are
prophetically in an urgent time as time is running out and God’s heart is for
the lost.
2 Peter
3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his
promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not
willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
The
greatest prophetic word for today is “Evangelism”. Jill Austin, founder of
Master Potter Ministries in
Christian missionaries across the globe
are using new technology to reach the masses of illiterate people who have
never before heard the Word of God. Small enough to hold in your hand, the
“Ambassador”, a solar-powered digital audio Bible that is smaller than a cell
phone, is capable of playing 10 hours of the Bible - or any audio - in any
language. It has been designed to reach the un-reached, in which we are
referring to the more than 1 billion illiterate people in the world, many of
whom have never heard the gospel. The device fully recharges after 14 hours in
the sunlight and works for up to 5 years. At that point, replaceable batteries
are available. It was launched in 1989 for about $30 each. There’s enough money
in
We want
to reach the un-reached at any cost or in any way that God provides for us to.
The time is very short and they must be saved.
Joel
3:14
Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of
decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.
CONCLUSION: Are you a rare person because of the
anointing? How much of your life has
been given to God for His ways and purposes to be fulfilled through you?
2 Cor. 1:8-10
For we would not, brethren, have you
ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of
measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life: [9] But we had the sentence of death in
ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead: [10] Who
delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that He
will yet deliver us;
It is
not easy to serve God, especially in this day. But others, such as the Apostle
Paul, have triumphed in the faith, even amongst great obstacles. And, one of
these days, soon it will be worth it
all - every sacrifice; every struggle; every trial - to stand in His presence
and to hear Him say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant -
enter into the joy of they Lord.”
May God
richly bless and anoint you as you minister for Him,
