The Heart of a Child
.
Minister Francine Herrington,
Florida
IS ANYONE THERE?
She stands on the
street corner at 5am because she has nowhere to go. She had to escape the nightmare that is
trying to destroy her. She cries because
she had no choice but to leave and has nowhere to go. Is there anyone who can help her?
An elderly man stands
in front of his bathroom mirror crying.
“What have I done with my life?”, he asks
himself. “I have nothing to show for
it. I’m good for nothing! I might as
well die!”
A nine year old girl
comes home after school. She changes her
clothes, enters the kitchen to wash last night’s dinner dishes and start
supper. Her mother walks in and hits her
upside her head saying, “Why are you late?
You should have been here fifteen minutes ago. If supper isn’t ready within 20 minutes I
will give you something that will convince you not to be late again. Do you hear me?”
The child swallows as
she tries to hold her tears back. She wishes that her father wasn’t in
jail. She knows that he loves her so why
did he have to get into so much trouble?
“God,” she cries,
“Why didn’t you give me a mother would could love me?”
“What did you say?”, the girl’s mother is ready to strike her.
“Nothing,” she quickly
answers. She wonders if God can send her
someone who can love her.
A drunken woman
almost gets hit while she is crossing the street. She manages to make it to the other side and
passes out. A couple of people walk past her and laugh.
“That’s what you get
when you can’t hold your liquor.”, a man says . No one knows that the reason she got drunk is
that she found out that her daughter was raped and tried to escape the pain.
Is anyone there to
reach out to these people? Does anyone
care? Do you believe that God is pleased
to see how we treat one another? What happened
to His commandment to go out into the highways and byways to reach the lost?
Everyone has
worth! It doesn’t matter what they look
like, how they dress, speak or behave.
The problem is that no one is reaching out to them to encourage them and
respectfully show them how valuable they are to their Creator, God.
Jesus said, Yes, I am
the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go
freely and will find good pastures. The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill
and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. John
10:9-10 (New Living Translation)
He also invited us to
reach out to Him when we are troubled.
He said, Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and
carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28 (New Living Translation)
How will hurting
people know what Jesus said if we don’t go and tell them?
Jesus desires us to
reach out to the hurting people. They
need to hear about Him! So many are weary and ready to give us. They need to be encouraged. The Lord spoke to His disciples saying, “The
harvest is great, but the workers are few.
So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send
more workers into his fields.” Mathew 8:37-38 (New Living Translation)
The day will come
when we will be held accountable for the things we have done to propagate the
Word of God to the unloved and left out.
When he finally
arrives, blazing in beauty and all his angels with him, the Son of Man will
take his place on his glorious throne. Then all the nations will be arranged
before him and he will sort the people out, much as a shepherd sorts out sheep
and goats, putting sheep to his right and goats to his left. Then the King will say to those on his right,
‘Enter, you who are blessed by my Father! Take what’s coming to you in this
kingdom. It’s been ready for you since the world’s foundation. And here’s why:
I was hungry and you
fed me,
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink,
I was homeless and you gave me a room,
I was shivering and you gave me clothes,
I was sick and you stopped to visit,
I was in prison and you came to me.’
Then those ‘sheep’
are going to say, ‘Master, what are you talking about? When did we ever see you
hungry and feed you, thirsty and give you a drink? And when did we ever see you
sick or in prison and come to you?’ Then the King will say,
‘I’m telling the solemn truth: Whenever you
did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me—you did
it to me.’ Then he will turn to the
‘goats,’ the ones on his left, and say, ‘Get out, worthless goats! You’re good
for nothing but the fires of hell. And why? Because— I
was hungry and you gave me no meal,
I was thirsty and you gave me no drink,
I was homeless and you gave me no bed,
I was shivering and you gave me no clothes,
Sick and in prison, and
you never visited.’
Then those ‘goats’
are going to say, ‘Master, what are you talking about? When did we ever see you
hungry or thirsty or homeless or shivering or sick or in prison and didn’t
help?’
He will answer them,
‘I’m telling the solemn truth: Whenever you failed to do one of these things to
someone who was being overlooked or ignored, that was me—you failed to do it to
me. ‘Then those ‘goats’ will be herded to their eternal doom, but the ‘sheep’
to their eternal reward.”
Matthew 25:31 – 49 The Message
NOW IS THE TIME TO
DECIDE IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE A SHEEP OR A GOAT BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE!!!
