THE RIGHT ATTITUDE
Francine S Harrington, Florida
There are many people who
have gone through one or more bad experiences during their lives. As victims of the past, they entertain anger,
hatred, jealousy as well as other negative feelings that will lead them into
more trouble. Men and women have slowly
adopted bad attitudes towards people places and things and wonder why their
situations don’t get better. This may
be one of the reasons some of them end up in jail or perhaps even the
grave. Are you one of these people?
You may agree that it is
quite difficult to befriend someone who finds something wrong with everything
that happens to them in life. Listening
to complaint after complaint can get a person to want to run from the
complainer, especially if it doesn’t stop.
God got angry at the Israelites when He saved them from slavery. He had Moses lead them out of Egypt and bring them to the
land of plenty. Numbers 11: 1-2 explains what happened to these complainers. ‘The people fell to
grumbling over their hard life. God
heard. When he heard his anger flared; then fire blazed up and burned the outer
boundaries of the camp. The people cried out for help to Moses; Moses prayed to God and the fire died down. This proves that God is displeased with people
who find something wrong with everything.
The Almighty Creator
never promised everyone that life would be easy. The reason for this is that all were born in
sin and even though many have chosen Jesus Christ as their Savior, it
takes work to get the desire of the flesh out of anyone’s life. It takes fire (trials) to burn out the
garbage that keeps people from seeing the good things that God has planned for
them.
The most important thing
that God did was to send His only beloved Son to die for mankind so that all
would be delivered from satan’s evil bonds of negativity.
This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and
only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him,
anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn't go to all the trouble of
sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad
it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him
is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the
death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of
that person's failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when
introduced to him- John 3:16-18
Jesus said, “The thief’s purpose is to
steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying
life.” John 10:10 The thief is satan, the mortal enemy of
mankind’s souls. He will try anything to
cause people to grumble and complain.
This will in turn lead men women and children to blame God for what they
are going through and turn away from the only One who can lead them to a
victorious life.
How then can one get rid
of such a sinful habit? Psalm 38:7 is a
good beginning, “The Lord is my strength
and my safe cover. My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped. So my heart is full
of joy. I will thank Him with my song.” It
reminds everyone that they are not alone. Yes, anyone can get weak when
something undesirable happens to him or her.
Yes, the past may be filled with hurts yet if forgiveness is practiced
then joy will take its place for positives always replace negatives when they
are cast out.
