The Child and Jesus

Thank
God for grandmothers who love the Lord!
Although I don’t remember how old I was at the time, I know that I was
under seven years old. We were Catholic and
my grandmother had prayer beads called rosary beads. The best way I can describe rosary beads is
that it is a string of beads with a crucifix.
All I remember is that I kept looking at Jesus nailed on the cross. Although I was a small child, I was sorry to
see Him suffering and I wanted to help Him.
I took my grandmother’s rosary and worked diligently on taking Jesus off
the cross. I was elated when I finally
freed Him. “Look granny, He’s not
hurting any more!” I felt like I saved
Him. My grandmother thought to herself,
“Oh no! She wrecked my rosary
beads!” She smiled because she didn’t
want to hurt my feelings but didn’t say anything. Several years later I gave my heart to the
Lord with the understanding that He died for me. He’s the One who saved me and not the other
way.
