TIME
FOR A MAKEOVER I have good news for you.
God wants you to know that your past is not your future. Whatever you ruined in the past due to your
wrong decisions can be remedied for the Lord can turn trash into
treasures. You may not be able to fix what
is broken and you don’t need to try for He will replace it with a new way of
thinking. You don’t need to be who you
were or do the things you used to do; you are a new creature in Christ Jesus. If you have a problem accepting the person
you are then you may need to take an inventory on yourself. Many people love to judge one another. One of the reasons for this is that they
want to avoid seeing as well as admit that they have weaknesses. It is much easier to find fault in another
person than to admit one’s own mistakes.
Have you ever worn the judge’s robe? If so, you need to admit that
it’s time for a makeover. "The
human mind is the most deceitful of all things. It is incurable. No one can
understand how deceitful it is.” Jeremiah 17:9 How many times do you try to please a person you admire
by pretending that you were someone other than yourself? You compromise yourself by trying to become
like him. As time elapses you notice that you are changing into the kind of a
person you never wanted to be. You
realize that you traded your good qualities for a new image that is
unpleasant to the Lord just so that your new friend would accept you. This means that instead of being a holy
example you turned into a follower of a person whose qualities that are less
than excellent. You begin to
notice that this friend is now ignoring you.
You hate the feeling of loneliness and are lost in the sea of All By
Myself. You wonder what happened; you tried to change in order to be accepted
and loved so why are you having a problem?
It’s time for a makeover! God
has plans for you and I. He didn’t
tell us to imitate another’s personality.
Psalm139: 13-14 fully describes God plans for us as individuals. Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then
out; you formed me in my mother's womb.
I thank you, High God—you're breathtaking! Body and soul, I am
marvelously made! I worship in adoration—what a creation! You know me inside
and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made,
bit-by-bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. Like an open book, you watched me grow from
conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you,
the days of my life all prepared before I'd even lived one day. What are you afraid of?
Nothing? Doesn’t everyone have
some kind of fear? Do you have a fear
of cancer or death? Are you afraid
that you will be left alone in your old age? This is unhealthy fear. Healthy fear is an
uncomfortable feeling in the presence of danger. Unhealthy fear can be
compared to a parasite. The online
Free Dictionary describes the parasite as: an organism that grows, feeds, and
is sheltered on or in a different organism while contributing nothing to the
survival of its host. I you have this
type of fear then it is time for a makeover. What is a makeover?
A makeover starts with the mind. The world has its own idea as to the image
you should apply to yourself. This is
a dangerous thing to do for it will lead you into more trouble than you can
imagine. Romans 12:2 warns us with
these words: Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God
transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will
know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and
perfect his will really is. Remember that He has wonderful plans for your life. His
desire is for you to succeed. It is
impossible to follow Him as well as keep your old behaviors. They will clash and you will end up being a
loser! You can find this in Jeremiah
29:11 I know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out - plans to take care
of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for. A remake consists in remaining consistent regarding your
faith in Him. 2 Corinthians 1:20 says
Certainly, Christ made God's many promises come true. For that reason,
because of our message, people also honor God by saying,
"Amen!" Trust Him regarding
the promises He made you. You may ask “What are God’s promises?” The Bible is filled with them. They range from Acceptance to Contentment
to God’s Provision etc., etc. We need
to find the time to read them. If you
are tired or fed up with your present situation and want to become the person
God created you to be then use His manual called the Bible and as you learn
it you will see yourself change. You
will have discovered the knowledge you need in order to get your makeover. Minister Francine
