THE FACES OF JESUS

Missionary Carol Hall, Japan

Is He blonde with blue eyes?  Black, curly haired or straight?

In all the different cultures we have lived and worked in, we have discovered that children see Jesus in ways they are familiar with. I grew up in Sunday School with a very European, western type Jesus…sometimes he had very very blonde hair!

If you go to Africa, you will see the children’s stories depicting Jesus with black features…not really dark, dark, but sort of brownish…and in Asia, children feel Jesus is Asian looking.   JESUS DOESN’T MIND THAT!

Do you see him sorrowful or joyful?   Merciful  or  Judge?   Do you know that John saw him in Rev. 1 with WHITE  HAIR?? And BRONZE FEET??  And a  sword coming from his Mouth!!!

By the way….HOW DO YOU SEE JESUS in your thoughts? Is He a light……How do you picture his eyes???  Is he in a mist or clear?  Or  do you know Him only as a statue in a church with a big halo around Him?   As mighty warrior, or tender shepherd?

“For now we see thru a glass, darkly, but THEN…

FACE TO FACE!”    I Cor. 13:12  oh glorious Day… And the Bible says the glory of God is in the FACE of Jesus ! The Bible says:  Seek His Face!   The glory is there.

 POEM

Some children see Jesus as blonde and fair…some see Him as dark…

    With black, curly hair..

Some children see Him with almond-shaped eyes, ...Some see Him as

     Tall…short…or medium size.

Jesus was born is Israel, & He walked this earth as a Jew…But He

Will let you picture Him, in a way that pleases you.

For God’s love changes color as it flows into the nations….

He may look African, Spanish, Russian or many tribal variations.

As long as you love Him as Savior and Lord, and your heart with

          Him is RIGHT….

Just see Him in any color you feel…red skinned, yellow, black or white!
