SATAN’S SEEDS – Matthew 13

This month seems to be about sowing seeds and reaping…..

Jesus had a lot to say about this subject, and most of you

fully know about the seed sown on good ground, bad ground, etc……

  Satan also is sowing seeds…..not on BAD ground, Or THORNY ground,  or STONY GROUND,  but on GOOD, Fertile ground.   Maybe when the devil looks at your soil, He just walks away and says  “forget about planting seeds there!  My seeds would never grow~!  There’s just too much sun!”   Wouldn't that be great? But we look at the seeds in Jesus’ parable as good seeds, so we want them to grow, and feel bad if birds come and eat them up or thorns choke them!  

HOWEVER, let us be ever aware that our enemy, though his seeds produce death & hate & division & sickness,……need GOOD SOIL just like any other seed!!!   What kind of soil do you have for Satan’s seeds?   Are you GOOD SOIL for them? 

We lived on a country hillside once in Castle Rock, Wa. and needed some fill dirt.   We found some road workers  excavating a mountain side and they agreed to come and dump about 5 big truck loads of soil for FREE~   Wow..what a blessing!  But…………we were UNAWARE that the soil  was filled with BAD SEEDS until the Spring came!   How often Do we allow bad seeds to be brought into our homes and planted among us, not realizing the strength of their roots??

      Ask yourself if you are doing this even now. 

So, back to the story:  These weeds were called “Japanese lace” and they were more like small TREES!  After years of spraying, cutting, pulling out, we finally got them GONE!   (funny they called them Japanese lace, when we spent most of our time in Japan!  We would come home for summer and meet these tall WEEDS…It seemed as though they were laughing at us…”hah hah hah…you thought you got rid of us, but we are still here !)

So, we unknowingly brought in some bad seeds already sown in GOOD soil.   We planted GOOD SEEDS and plants in this soil, but those weeds would continue to pop up and grow bigger and easier than our good seeds..   We would spray, cut, chop, pull out for years, until they were finally gone!! 

Maybe this is an encouragement for you today.  When Jesus Christ found you, He saw in you GOOD SOIL!   He planted His Word inside you and transplanted you to HIS GARDEN.

But no matter how hard you try to live according to HIS WORD, those BAD SEEDS keep popping up, seemingly BIGGER and more POWERFUL than God’s seeds.    BUT GOD KNEW ABOUT THE BAD SEEDS IN YOU……..and He wasn’t worried about them, cause HE KNEW YOU HAD GOOD SOIL, and He knew the POWER of HIS SEED was GREAT!

YES, it’s necessary for all of us to continue to CHOP DOWN, PULL UP, SPRAY, the bad seeds……but gradually they will die off, cause the GOOD SEEDS will take over. Don’t give up!

The sad story is when YOU ARE GOOD SOIL, PRODUCING GOOD SEED FOR THE MASTER, and then the enemy comes in and plants BAD SEEDS in your good soil.    What a MESS that becomes!    It happens in our children as they grow older sometimes.    So, its so important to KEEP YOUR SOIL SO FILLED WITH HIS SEEDS…HIS WORD….THAT THE
BAD SEEDS WILL BE CHOKED OUT BY THE GOOD SEEDS.    Put the WORD, mixed the fertilizer of LOVE, and the discipline of pulling small weeds out daily, and you will have a GARDEN OF JESUS that Satan cannot destroy!  Teach your children to do the same….They may get a lot of bad weeds growing in their lives, but If they have truly known Jesus, the sower, they will NEVER find peace and real joy apart from His Presence.     And the seeds Jesus plants do not die!   Satan cannot kill them with his lies.     

PRAYER:  I pray right now Lord, for those parents who have children that have wandered away from Your Precious Word, and have bad seeds sown in their good soil.   I pray for those who have been transplanted into God’s Garden, and yet are dealing with sins of the past, and attitudes that keep popping up.   THANK YOU ……… YOU SAW IN US…GOOD SOIL.   YOU INVESTED YOUR LIFE IN US & WATER US WITH YOUR WATER OF LIFE.    GIVE HOPE TO these folks Lord.  Maybe we ALL need this.   Give us strength & patience & the POWER of your Holy Spirit to rise up and begin pulling out by the roots the bad seeds that Satan has planted……..and give us the love to encourage & help one another.
