Whose garment are you and I wearing?

Ivan Pattison, Australia

We can legally believe what the Word of God says, and do no more, or we can become, what the Word of God says, and change into the likeness of Jesus.

Eph 5:26 That he, (Jesus) might sanctify and cleanse it (the Church) with the washing of water by the word, Eph 5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

(KJV): Joh 17:17-19 Ac 26:18 1Co 6:11 Tit 2:14 Heb 9:14 10:10 1Pe 1:2 Jude 1:1  Eze 16:9 36:25 Zec 13:1 Joh 3:5 Ac 22:16 Tit 3:5-7 Heb 10:22 1Pe 3:21 1Jn 5:6  Joh 15:8 17:7 Jas 1:18 1Pe 1:22,23

What a garment to wear, without spot or wrinkle, washed in the Blood, and after going through the fire, and having all of the uncleanness and all of that does not belong to a Godly life, burnt out of us. Giving us a new garment, and going through much tribulations, Rom 5:3

Eph 3:13 , 2Th 1:4 , that God takes us through, so we will come out cleansed and washed whiter than snow. Coming to a place with no more ironing out of the wrinkles to be done.

Zec 3:2 And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: [is] not this a brand plucked out of the fire?

Zec 3:3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.

Zec 3:4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.

Zec 3:5 And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the LORD stood by.

Here we see Joshua in his dirty clothes, in his spiritual nakedness, and satan standing at Joshua’s right hand, and Joshua was clothed in filthy garments, that is soiled garments that should be white. Is satan standing at our right hand? Do we have some of our filthy garments still clinging to us? It is desirable to say we are under the Blood, and we are the righteousness of Jesus, but are we? in reality? Are we trying to take off our dirty garments, or are we letting God take them off from us, and cleansing us with the Blood of Jesus, that is nailing our old nature to the cross, and putting on the beautiful nature of Jesus. Psa 127:1

Unless God gives us a change of garments, then the garments we wear, shows us up to what we really are, and our nakedness appears, don’t matter how much we try to hide it.

Zec 3:6 And the angel of the LORD protested unto Joshua, saying, Zec 3:7 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.

What a promise that was given to Joshua, what a responsibility ahead of him. What responsibility has God got for us, that is, what responsibility has God got for you and me, if only we let Him take off our dirty garments and for Him to give us a new garment.

Isa 61:10 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh [himself] with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth [herself] with her jewels.

Rev 16:15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed [is] he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

Rev 3:4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.

Isa 52:1 Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.

Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Christians; put on thy beautiful garments, O Christians, O holy people: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.

The following words from the Salvation Army Song book

In white, in white, walking in white;
He makes me worthy through his blood
To walk with him in white.
William James Pearson (1832-92)

Chorus
Whiter than snow, yes, whiter than snow,
Now wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
James Nicholson (c 1828-76)

Verse 3, of the song Thou Christ of burning, cleansing flame

'Tis fire we want, for fire we plead,
Send the fire!
The fire will meet our every need,
Send the fire!
For strength to ever do the right,
For grace to conquer in the fight.
For power to walk the world in white,
Send the fire!

William Booth (1829-1912)
