GROWING IN JESUS

Ivan Pattison, Australia

For some it is just a daily stepping stone for others, it is a struggle, and some have to have God put them through difficult times, and circumstances, because most of us want the benefits from God but not all of us want to take the road God has mapped out for us.

If only each one of us would be obedient to God, which would be much easier in the long run.

Growing in Jesus is a step at a time, a prayer at a time, taking up our Holy Bible and reading it half hour, or however the time we need to read it daily.

Learning a verse of Scripture one at time, one a day, this is how we grow in Jesus. This is how any one of us get our strength in Jesus.

Each one of us In the year 2004, let each one of us decide to flow more and more with the move of the Holy Spirit, than we have done in the past.

If we want God’s best, this is the way to go, so let us desire more of God’s best, I also want to be more obedient to His Spirit, I truly want more of what God has for me.

Not doing what I want to do, but what God wants me to do, and where He wants me to go.

This is again a growing time in each of us when we become more obedient to God, obedient and move with the flow of the Holy Spirit.

Putting God first, all good things, every good thing shall be added unto us.

I love this verse of Scripture;

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

When we put in a seed, it takes time to come up, and depending on whether it is a seed of a large tree that will last for hundreds of years or a seed of a vegetable that when grown will last less than six months from the time of putting in. It depends on how quickly it will mature.

If we as Christians want to mature then we have to be like a seed planted in good soil, and like a seed planted of a large tree, our roots must go well down into the soil, other wise we dig deep into the Word of God, if not then we become likened to the house built on the sand, as soon as troubles come then as the house fell so shall we fall.

To grow in Jesus we must have a good foundation, liken to the large tree.

Never will a plant that has been fed, watered and looked after properly, go backwards, it is only those plants and trees that have not been looked after properly and have not had the right environment will go backwards.

It is similar with us, only those of us who have been nourished with the Word of God, watered with prayer, and have a good environmental relationship with God are the ones who will flourish and go on to maturity, and grow in Jesus.

We who have put our hand to the plow should never look back, we should always look forward, having a straight furrow, leading to our goal. Let us look daily to what God has for us, keep achieving daily.

A farmer who keeps looking back while plowing you can be sure he will not plow a straight furrow, so growing in Jesus is likened to a farmer in almost every way.

Can you imagine a farmer who kept looking back and has crooked furrows, what happens when he plants the seed, it is very difficult, as not all the seed will go into the furrows, because of the crookedness of the furrows, but planting seed into a straight furrow, it is planted properly.

Then comes the harvest, can you also imagine what it would be like to harvest crooked rows, much easier to harvest straight rows.

When our life travels the straight and narrow road, then as we grow older it is much easier to live a good life, and we have the benefits of a life growing in Jesus

From the time one gets out of bed in the morning, should be the start to accomplishing things for the day.

As we grow in Jesus, our fruits of the Spirit should be showing fruit in our life
