LIVING A HOLY LIFE
Ivan
Pattison,
LIVING A HOLY LIFE IS TO BE LESS OF ME, MORE OF JESUS!!
A HOLY LIFE IS A WHOLE LIFE GIVEN OVER TO GOD!!
NONE OF SELF AND ALL OF HIM!!
A HOLY LIFE IS A LIFE TOTALLY BELONGING TO GOD
Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your
Father which is in heaven is perfect.
James 1:4 But let patience have her perfect
work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
There is a song that says, "Take time to be holy, and speak oft with
thy Lord", yes a part of being holy is speaking often with our Lord and Saviour, and listening to Him and what He has to say to us
as individuals and as a Church.
Holiness is having a relationship with, and is being one with the Father
God, being in oneness with Him, total surrender of our life to Him.
Righteousness and Holiness is also having faith in our Father in Heaven,
and having that confidence in Him that He will answer our prayers. This
confidence comes from being obedient to Him, and enjoying a right relationship
with Him, also having confidence in what He says in His Word, and being
obedient to His written Word.
I
love what Deuteronomy chapter 28 verse 1 says; Deuteronomy 28:1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt
hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all
his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set
thee on high above all nations of the earth:
We see today where those who have been obedient to our Heavenly Father,
and have spent much time in prayer, in secret, have had audiences with
Presidents, and other high ranking men and women around the world, and we see
God honouring that which they have done in secret,
they have been rewarded openly.
Matthew 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy
door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
These people who are also leading thousands of
men, women and children to Jesus, and some are leading millions to Jesus, what
a privilege they have, and each one of them have paid a high price in their
personal life, so they could be used of God our Father.
Each one has set themselves aside for Jesus
forgetting themselves, and hating sin so much, that
they have died to themselves.
Here is a chorus that is sung in the Salvation
Army.
All my days and all my hours,
All my will and all my powers,
All the passion of my soul,
Not a fragment but the whole
Shall be thine, dear Lord,
Shall be thine, dear Lord.
What powerful words, and can each of us, that is
you and me, pray and make these promises to God truthfully?? When the Holy
Spirit speaks to us in an individual way and know He
will see us through, what ever task He has given to us to do. God the Father
always keeps His promises that He has given to us in His Word, all we have to
do is believe what God says to us!!
Paul as he wrote to the Corinthians,
says here that he wants to present each one, to God the Father as a chaste
virgin, that is perfect, pure and holy. Why don’t we claim Paul’s words
speaking to us in this way. Here we have Jude writing
about being faultless, and that the Holy Spirit giving us the strength to be
presented in this way, but we must spend the time with God our Father to be
this way.

Corinthians 11:2 For I
am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one
husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
Jude 1:24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to
present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
I believe Righteousness and Holiness go hand in
hand, Holiness being one with God, and Righteous comes by having faith in God,
and a right standing with Him.
Romans 4:3 For what saith
the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was
counted unto him for righteousness.
Noah also believing God and trusting Him became
also a heir of Righteousness by preparing the
Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as
yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which
he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
How many of us are truly righteous in the sight of
our God the Father, how many of us are doing the things that are righteous, 1
John 2:29.
Are we each one dead to sins so we can have the righteousness of God,
1 Peter 2:24
