PATTISON’S PERSPECTIVE

A NEW CREATION

Ivan Pattison, Australia

I think this year we can be making changes in our own lives, and in the lives of others, as this is God’s way, and God’s design.

Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

First of all, before we can make a new start, or even turn around our life if it isn’t going the way we would like it to go, we must start with renewing our mind, and having the mind of Christ, as we are suppose to have. This is certainly the starting point for change and for going forward.

1 Corinthians 2:16 For who has known or understood the mind (the counsels and purposes) of the Lord so as to guide and instruct Him and give Him knowledge? But we have the mind of Christ (the Messiah) and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart. [Isa. 40:13.]

How many Christians have renewed their mind since becoming a Christian? If not, why not?
Do we as Christians like to wallow in our worldly thoughts, or are we really trying to do some thing about our worldly thinking.

This is a good time to start renewing our mind, the beginning of a new year. Renewing of our mind makes, does make us, a new creation, for it is the mind that controls us. It controls our body, what we eat, and what we do.

There is such a thing as mind control, where the mind controls us, when it should be the other way around, that we control the mind.
We are the ones that have to make a difference, we have to make an effort, in how we change, and if, and when we change. We have to make changes to our thinking, in every area of our life, and when we make these changes to our thinking, our health changes, and our actions change.

The Lord spoke to me at one time, about my thinking, and He said that to stop my worldly thinking, I needed to put the Word of God into my mind and spirit, and like so many I don’t seem to stop long enough to fill my mind as much as I should, with the Word of God, now don’t get me wrong, I love the Word of God, and if I didn’t know as much as I know, I would not be able to write the way I do. None of us can get enough of the Word in us, and I know I have to work harder at putting more of the Word into my mind and spirit, and I have a desire to do so.

Pro 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

When we are trained as a child in the ways of our God, then we will not depart from our training. A Jewish boy child learnt the first five books of the Holy Bible, by the time he was five years old, and he learnt the rest of the Old Testament by the age of twelve.
Here are two verses of Scripture that God says, through lack of knowledge people perish, and in Hosea 4:6, God says, even His people perish and don’t we see that today, those who in our churches, who do not study the Word, have some wild ideas of what a Christian life should be.

Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision [no redemptive revelation of God], the people perish; but he who keeps the law [of God, which includes that of man]—blessed (happy, fortunate, and enviable) is he. [I Sam. 3:1; Amos 8:11, 12.]

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you [the priestly nation] have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you that you shall be no priest to Me; seeing you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children.

How sad when any one of us do not have a vision for the future, and do not have some idea where we are going.

We as Christians need a vision, other wise we will be one of those who will perish, and are perishing, how sad to see this happening, how does this affect our Heavenly Father’s heart, when He sees so many perishing, when they don’t have to.
This year can be a new start, for each one of us, however far we are on our way in the Christian walk, and whatever short comings we have, let us study to show ourselves, an approved workman, that needeth not to be ashamed.

2 Timothy 2:15 Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.

2 Timothy 2:16 But avoid all empty (vain, useless, idle) talk, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness.

Mat 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in [their] knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Isa 26:3 Thou wilt keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on thee]: because he trusteth in thee.

The King James and the Amplified versions of the Holy Bible are used here.

24 Now to Him Who is able to keep you without stumbling or slipping or falling, and to present [you] unblemished (blameless and faultless) before the presence of His glory in triumphant joy and exultation [with unspeakable, ecstatic delight]

25 To the one only God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory (splendor), majesty, might and dominion, and power and authority, before all time and now and forever (unto all the ages of eternity). Amen (so be it).

With much Love Ivan
