The Price and The Prize

of the High Calling

Ivan Pattison, Australia

What is the price that we need to pay, to receive the prize of our high calling?

Mark 10:29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's,

Mark 10:30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

Not all has to make this sacrifice, but some do.

I think all of us has to make some sacrifice of some kind, how small, or how big, and whatever the sacrifice is, that is required of us, we never lose in the end..

What God calls us to do, and makes a way for us to do, then we will love what He leads us into, if not straight away, then some where down the road, we will really love doing, what God has chosen for us to do.

The cost sometimes is enormous, other times it is little, but whatever, we will come to a place where our love for our Lord, will be more precious than our will or our feelings, or our loss, if any.

Philippians 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

Since the Holy Spirit has led me into writing, I have had many a problem, and I do count it all joy, though not always experienced the joy, when going through the rough places, even though I should.

Paul says count it all joy, and we should that is you and me, praise God even if it is a sacrifice, James 1:2 whether it be a temptation or a hardship.

Remember that satan cannot steal our goods if he cannot steal our joy, so let us praise, that is you and I, praise God in all situations

It is so important for each of us to have that joy coming out of our spirit, whatever situation we find ourselves in.

Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

The rewards, of our high calling, whatever field, and wherever in the field God has chosen to call us into, it will bring us great rewards. Many receive those rewards here on earth, as well as in heaven, and each one of us, if we endure, we will receive the highest prize of all, that is to be one of those precious saints that have their home with God. Matthew 10:22 Matthew 24:13

The Prize of the High Calling; The first part of the prize and the best part, and that is being in God's presence here on earth, and also then in glory with our God, our Heavenly Father, with those who have gone through the Fire, that is bringing us with them, to the eternal heavenly place where we will never experience sorrow again.

A place where we are all honest with each other, what a prize to aim for, honesty, integrity, and all those fruits that will continue in heaven that has begun in us here.

I am sure each one of us will enter the gates with praise as we leave this world for the one so much better.

Psalm 100:4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

We can do all of this now, entering into our Heavenly Father’s courts with praise,

Philippians 3:7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.

Paul says in Philippians 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

There is a song with the words in it; "I am desperate for you" and "I am lost without you".

Psalm 130 says Out of the deep, the very deep depths of me, I have cried out to You, O Lord.

There is a story that came through on the Internet; A young man took a journey to visit a guru, and the young man said to the guru, I have come here to find God. Immediately the guru jumped up and grabbed the young man by the collar of his shirt, and pulled him down into the river, and held his head down under the water for as long as he dared to do so. Pulling the young man up again, and letting him catch his breath, he asked the young man what he wanted most while he was under the water, and the young man replied; air! The guru then said; when you want God as much as you wanted air, then come back to me.

If only each one of us wanted God as much as we want those things of this world, how close to God we would become.

Mat 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

How often do we seek every thing else and fit God into the time and finances that is left over.

The Price and The Prize of the High Calling comes when putting God first, and if we do put God first, then all those things we want and need, will be, not might be, but will be, added unto us.

Love and Shalom, Ivan: 7/16/2005
