Touching the Face of God
When I was in the first grade, I was in the annual school
program as a sunflower. In fact, all the
first graders wore sunflower faces.
Standing there on that stage with petals sewn to a strap of material
tied around our little 6 year-old faces, we looked so cute! Every time we moved our little heads, the
petals flopped around and a chorus of ‘oohs and ahs‘ would arise from among the members of the
audience. The atmosphere of that
elementary school gym glowed with ‘proud parent’ brilliance and glory, as our
little faces expressed the image of our mothers’ and fathers’ acceptance.
The book of Ezekiel ends with an intriguing name for God, Jehovah-Shamah,
meaning God’s abiding presence, as
in, ‘The LORD is there.’ As believers
we ‘live in’ and ‘walk in’ our Lords love everyday, yet we do
not always notice the ‘lovability’ of the ‘oohs and
ahs’ that express His love. Have you ever thought how our Father God watches
us, His children, with that certain ‘glow’ coming from ‘proud parent’
brilliance and glory?. Have you ever realized that
It is with our spirit we soar in Your
love and we are one, Spirit to spirit.
You gave our spirits a covering, our bodies. You speak our name to Your
ministering angels, "See My children ... they glow of heaven’s
light." Fill us with Your consuming fire and change us. Turn us around, to walk Your
path. May we keep our eyes on You so that they would sparkle with Your glow of love to a
world lost in hate. May our mouths speak
Your words of love and hope, to bring life and not
death! Lord we lift Your
name, we give Your love, we breathe Your Glory ... then Lord, we touch Your
face.
