Soft Prayers
Our
life is a journey that takes a lot of time but even more relationship. If we
never become vulnerable to suffering, we will miss that depth of living under God’s
guidance. God’s guidance comes through prayer. Prayer can be an exasperating
challenge or a depth of lifestyle to inner strength.
One
of my most beloved women of prayer in scripture is Hannah. She found the
embrace of God’s peace through heartfelt prayer. The Lord held Hannah’s tender
heart as He whispered calmness and grace into her sense of worth.
At
her prayers that day, when the priest thought she was drunk on too much wine,
Hannah’s eyes floated in tears as her lips moved in silence though her voice
was not heard. In truth she was broken with sorrow and grief of being barren,
having no son.
Prayers That Are Unspeakable
“Hannah spoke in her heart.” 1 Samuel 1:13
Sometimes
we cannot put into words what our heart tries to pour out through a sorrowful
spirit of emptiness and emotional injury. Many around us cannot understand to
what depth our soul needs to cry. Only the God of mercy and love can identify
with such struggle. He formed us with His very own hands, creating a child that
would someday call out to Him with their need, in order that His overwhelming
love can do what no other can – recreate that which is broken.
Prayers That Are Indescribable
“The lips of the righteous feed many.” Proverbs10:21
It
must be apparent that we will reap in proportion to what we sow in prayers of
faith. We then begin to understand the truth we speak forth from those quiet
times when God whispers direction to believe and faith to conquer.
God’s
presence brings a blessing and He adds no sorrow to it. When we know His voice,
we know His ways. God always hides a victory somewhere within defeat. He may
shout His truth, but God always whispers His secrets, the thoughts and intent
of His heart, to those who will quietly listen during times of what a dear
friend of mine has expressed as: ‘soft
prayers.’
