A GENTLE SPIRIT

A Transforming Touch of
Love
I
simply love this time of year. You can call it fall, you can say autumn or you
can just breathe the change in atmosphere from the end of summer’s heat. But I
purely am passionate about the last three months of America’s calendar year.
In
October our family-type holiday season begins with the festival of harvest time
when all the leaves begin to change. Every tree type has a color so vivid that
one’s breath is taken away viewing all the areas of fall foliage. The deep reds
and purple speckled within yellows and orange, give trees’ raiment their final
goodbye before the deep sleep of long winter’s rest.
Within
nature rest must come. The growing process brings balance to each season to
bring forth once again in the green raiment flora of spring. Life lies dormant
within the harsh and cold of winter’s rest.
Life Giving Words to Pass On
Surrounding
each believing Christian, spiritual life transforms through seasons of God’s
grace. The touch of our Lord Jesus Christ’s transforming love comes in these
seasons of rest by His life-giving words, spoken at just the time they are
needed.
Perhaps
each of us can remember some experience of love or suffering that opened the
passion and compassion of God the Father to us. With His touch of love God
enters our pain and stretches out healing hands through His life-giving words
spoken or read and then meditated upon.
Like
the changing tree that bares its branches during the cold and harsh winter, we,
God’s children, long to be healed of the inner wounds of life. For only God’s
loving and transforming power of grace will bring change after a season of rest
and ‘…life giving words to pass on.’
(Acts 7:38)
Jesus is Thanksgiving
Within
the sin nature there is a life lying dormant that can come forth into a new
nature. The nature of our Lord and Redeemer – Jesus Christ – comes through the
thankful heart that is in its season of change by the transforming touch of His
love.
