AWESOME: A GOOD WORD!

Pastor Larry Gatlin, So Oregon

Hey everybody! I was thinking the other day, actually Tuesday, about the word awesome.

I remember the time Michael Jordan went up for a lay in.  In mid - air he switched hands and made the shot.  Every sports caster that night on the evening news reported about how awesome Michael was.

I remember when the St. Louis Rams won the Super Bowel two years ago and people were screaming about how awesome they were.

Most of that has faded from our memories and it just seems like it isn't all that important any more. That's because it really isn't.   Those kind of things appear and then vanish.

It's kind of like life.   James says,
James 4:14   Where as you do not know what will happen tomorrow.  For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.   (NKJ)

Our lives and how we live them are extremely important.   We only have a short time here on earth and then we're called home.   So it is crucial for us to live our lives every day in, you guessed it, the Awesomeness of God.

In fact God, Father, Son and Holy Ghost is the only one who could ever really deserve to be called awesome.

Let's see . .

Ø     He spoke and the Worlds were made.

Ø     He took some dust and spit, breathed the breath of life into it and made man.

WOW, now that's awesome!!!!!!!!

I know that my articles are usually longer, but today is February fourteenth and I am about to head out the door to go to the Oregon coast with my lovely wife for a night of fun, romance and relaxation.   So remember, every time you hear the word, AWESOME, it really only applies to all that our heavenly has for us, has done for us, and is going to do for us.

And no, you aren't invited on this trip with us.   Maybe some other time.
