BROKEN
AND BLESSED
Pastor
Larry Gatlin, So
For some time I have been meditating on the
importance of being broken before the Lord, It is a state of total humility where
I allow the lord to take my life and make it into all that He desires for me to
become. It is a time when I must rely upon His direction and touch upon my
life.
Jesus
went by boat to a deserted place. There was a multitude of people that
followed Him. He taught them but they were getting hungry. The disciples came
to Him and asked Him to let the people go so that they could go and buy food.
But Jesus told them to feed them.
Matt 14:13-22 NKJV
“When Jesus heard it, He departed
from there by boat to a deserted place by Himself. But when the multitudes
heard it, they followed Him on foot from the cities. 14 And when Jesus went out
He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed
their sick. 15 When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying,
"This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Send the
multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves
food."
16 But Jesus said to them, "They do not
need to go away. You give them something to eat." 17
And they said to Him, "We have here only five loaves and two
fish." 18 He said, "Bring them here to Me." 19 Then He commanded the multitudes to sit
down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up
to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the
disciples gave to the multitudes. 20 So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets
full of the fragments that remained. 21 Now those who had eaten were about five
thousand men, besides women and children. 22 Jesus
Walks on the Sea
With five loaves and
two fish he fed the whole multitude and had twelve baskets full left over.
There are some valuable lessons to be learned here.
1.
We
must be willing to listen to the Master. You give them something. We all have
something if we'll allow the master to use us.
2.
When we
are broken
and blessed we become more than enough in the eyes and the hands of the
master. We must become broken so that we can be blessed. By broken I mean
totally 100% committed to the
3.
Another valuable lesson is that there is no
waste in the Kingdom. Jesus uses all who'll come to Him and submit to His
authority in their lives.
4.
Finally we see that there is MORE. There is
always more in the Kingdom. God never runs out and he never holds back. He
desires to release more of the Kingdom in our lives. We have to be willing to
receive it.
