How do we glorify the Lord?
First
the Hebrew word for Glory is KAW-BAD. It means to be heavy. So when we
glorify the Lord we are making Him heavier in our lives. We also are showing
honor and respect. We are exalting Him and giving Him preeminence (THE ONLY
PRIORITY) in our lives.
We
often get taken with teachings about arranging priorities in our lives. You
know, God number one, family number two, or ministry number three and the list
goes on. But I have come to realize that the Lord doesn't want to be number one
on our "Hit Parade" of priorities. He wants to be the only priority in our lives, and then He'll work all the others
out for us; Of course that's provided that we'll let Him.
Well, now I should be in trouble with several who have always followed those listings of priorities. I'm really not excluding your lists. I'm just saying that when we make the Lord our only priority, He'll set the rest of our lives in the proper order.
The
Greek word for glorify is, doxadzo. It means to, glorify, make
full, show honor, to magnify. Glorifying the Lord is indeed or should
be our only priority.
But
how can we do that? Well there are several ways:
1.
Live a holy life.
2.
Enter into His presence every day. Not just during corporate times of worship.
3.
Give of our time, talents, labors, and finances.
4.
Spend time building intimacy with Him; entering into the "Joy of our
Lord".
But
let me close with these five scriptures that will add some more depth to our
list.
#1. We Glorify Him by Praising His
Name!!!!!!!!!
Ps 22:23 Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob,
glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.
#2. We Glorify Him by doing Good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Matt
5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good
works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Not doing good works
to try and earn salvation, but good works that are produced by faith in Jesus
Christ.
#3. By producing
fruit:
Works and religion will never get any one to heaven; but
when we really live the Christ life, we will produce fruit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
John
15:8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye
be my disciples.
#4. We Glorify the
Lord when we walk in unity:
I have learned over the years that unity is not a matter of
everyone agreeing on everything. In fact we may never agree on everything. But
it is an attitude that even though we may not agree, we can still walk together
in the Love of Christ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rom
15:6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ.
#5. We Glorify the Lord as we
totally commit our lives to Him and we worship Him with our whole being!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I finally understand why David worshipped the Lord with all
his might and his whole being. Not just raising his hands, just dancing before
the Lord, or just clapping; not just playing his harp and singing, it took
his whole being to express exactly how he felt about the PRESENCE
of the LORD!!!!!!!!!!!!
1 Cor
6:19-20 What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which
is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are
bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit,
which are God's.
So
my dear E-SAINTS, it is time to GLORIFY THE
LORD!!!!!!!!!!
