THE GLORY OF GOD!

I.                                        NO ONE HAS EVER SEEN THE FULL GLORY OF GOD (HIS FACE) AND LIVED.

II.                                     HOWEVER, MOSES DID GET TO SEE THE HINDER PART OF GOD.

III.                                  NOT ONLY DID HE SEE GODS BACKSIDE, BUT IT REVELUTIONIZED HIS LIFE.

A.                                        HE NEVER ACTED THE SAME AGAIN

B.                                        NEVER THOUGHT OF GOD THE SAME

C.                                        NEVER KNEW GOD IN THE SAME WAY AGAIN

    IV. THE GLORY OF GOD WAS NOT A STRANGE OCCURANCE FOR MOSES.

A.       IN EX. 29:43 GOD SAYS THAT ISRAEL AND THE TABERNACLE WOULD BE SANCTIFIED BY HIS GLORY

B.       IN EX. 33:18 MOSES ASKS TO SEE GODS GLORY NOW READ WITH ME:  Ex 33:19-23 NKJ Then He said, "I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion."  But He said, "You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live."  And the LORD said, "Here is a place by Me, and you shall stand on the rock. So it shall be, while My glory passes by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock, and will cover you with My hand while I pass by. Then I will take away My hand, and you shall see My back; but My face shall not be seen."

 

C.       MOSES IS HIDDEN IN THE CLEFT OF THE ROCK

D.      GOD PASSES BY AND COVERS MOSE’S FACE SO THAT HE DOESN’T DIE.

E.       BUT MOSES DID SEE GOD.

F.       THE FULL GLORY OF GODS FACE WOULD HAVE KILLED HIM

G.      SEEING THE BACK SIDE OF GOD WOULD PROBABLY KILL THE AVERAGE MAN OR WOMAN.

H.      THIS WAS NOT THE LAST OR ONLY ENCOUNTER WITH GODS GLORY FOR MOSES.

I.        HE CONTINUED TO SEE GODS GLORY IN VARIOUS DEGREES.

V.SO WE TOO SEE THE GLORY OF GOD IN DEGREES THAT WE CAN BEAR. SOME MORE OR LESS THAN OTHERS.

VI. SOME NEVER SEE IT. BECAUSE THEIR NOT SEEKING IT.

VII. BUT WE NOW EXPERIENCE GODS GLORY IN LEVELS THAT WE CAN HANDLE. WE ARE GROWING IN IT ALL THE TIME.

VIII. SOME TIMES IT OVER POWERS US. WHY PEOPLE ARE TAKEN OUT IN THE SPIRIT. (SLAIN)

A.                BUT THERE WILL COME A DAY WHEN WE WILL SEE HIM FACE TO FACE.

B.                IT REQUIRES US TO DIE TO THE OLD MAN AND IT’S NATURE. PRIDE, DESIRES, AMBITIONS, AND DREAMS.

C.                AND ALLOW HIS DESIRES, DREAMS AND AMBITIONS TO BECOME OURS.

D.               SO THAT ONLY DEAD MEN, THOSE WHO ARE DEAD TO THE FLESH CAN SEE GOD.

E.                ONLY DEAD MEN CAN SEE GOD. EVEN BITS AND PIECES.

F.                BUT WE CAN SE THE AMOUNT OF GLORY THAT WE ARE PREPARED TO SEE.

G.               HE DESIRES FOR US TO SEE MORE.

H.               BUT WE MUST LAY ASIDE THE PURSUITS THAT TAKE US AWAY FROM SEEKING HIS GLORY.

 

Ex 40:34–38 NKJ Then the cloud covered the tabernacle of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. 35 And Moses was not able to enter the tabernacle of meeting, because the cloud rested above it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. 36 Whenever the cloud was taken up from above the tabernacle, the children of Israel would go onward in all their journeys. 37 But if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not journey till the day that it was taken up. 38 For the cloud of the LORD was above the tabernacle by day, and fire was over it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.       

  

I.                 THERE ARE MANY MORE TIMES THAT MOSES SEES GODS GLORY. SOME GREAT, SOME NOT SO GREAT. BUT ONCE HE SAW GOD HE WAS NEVER THE SAME.

J.                 WE TOO CAN SEE GODS GLORY. HE BUILDS US LINE UPON LINE ONE DEGREE UPON ANOTHER.

             Isa 28:10-11 NKJ For precept must be upon precept, precept upon                           precept, Line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little."                            For with stammering lips and another tongue He will speak to this                         people.

K.                BUT WE MUST LONG FOR AND HUNGER AFTER HIS GLORY.

 

CONCLUSION: I MAY NEVER SEE GOD FACE TO FACE HERE ON EARTH. AND IF I DO I AM CERTAIN THAT I WILL DIE. BUT I CAN EXPERIENCE HIS GLORY FROM ONE DEGREE TO ANOTHER.

 

ONE DAY I WILL SEE HIM IN ALL OF HIS GLORY AND BE ABLE TO WORSHIP HIM DIRECTLY, FACE TO FACE.
