CAN TWO WALK TOGETHER? The Lord has really been dealing
with me about the need to be in agreement with other Believers who are of the
same mind and flow of the Spirit as I am. I want to examine two scriptures
that I am certain will help us understand this a bit better. Matt 18:18-20 NIV
"I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in
heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. "Again,
I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it
will be done for you by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three come
together in my name, there am I with them." NIV Amos 3:3 KJV Can
two walk together, except they be agreed? Binding and Loosening are two scriptural
principles that we all need to be aware of. Jesus would not have given us the
directive to administer these two sources if He had not intended for us to
follow through on them. To bind means to harness or imprison someone or
something. To loosen means to, break, dissolve, melt, or destroy. For everything
we bind we also must loosen something. If I bind a disease, I must also loosen
healing. So when I pray I must take authority over the disease and bind it in
Jesus’ name. Then in the name of Jesus I must also loosen the healing virtue
of Jesus to flow in their life and their body. If it is a habit or addiction
I must follow the same scriptural pattern. Bind the addiction or habit in
Jesus’ name and loosen deliverance in the name of Jesus. Continue to follow me. The Lord is
telling them that there is great authority in coming into agreement with
another Believer. There are three steps in coming into agreement over
something. #1. I first must come into
agreement with what the Word of God says. #2. Then I must agree with the
God Head, Father, Son and Holy Ghost. #3. Third I need to find a
fellow Believer that will agree with me in faith for whatever it is that I am
seeking the Lord for. This third one is what the Lord really
began to drill into my spirit. I know that the Word of God makes provision
for all of my needs to be met. Phil 4:19 NKJ And
my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ
Jesus. I know that the God Head always
agrees with the Word so there is no problem in this area. But finding a fellow
Believer who will agree with me in faith is not always as easy as it seems.
First there are those who will say, “Sure, I’ll agree with you and then they
never pray about it ever again if at all. Then there are those who will agree
for a short time, but if they don’t see results right away they back off.
There is a third Believer that we must know and come into agreement with. It
is the Believer who says I will stand with you until we see the answer come
to pass. A Believer who has the same commitment to faith as yours. Who won’t
just talk about faith, but will really exercise faith to believe in your
behalf. As we read in Amos three - two cannot walk together unless there is
an agreement made. Here’s where I have to be a bit careful.
You can have a friend who is a Christian, but has a different view of faith
than yours. Let’s say that I believe that the Lord desires to heal me of
cancer. (Which I do not have) But the person I ask to pray with me believes that
God doesn’t heal as He did in the Early Church. That person may be a
Christian but they won’t be able to come into agreement with me for my
healing. Because I believe that God heals and they don’t or are not certain
about it. We can not be in agreement. Because our faith is not walking in the
same light. They are still saved and I am saved but we can not agree because
they are way away from walking in the same level of maturity that I have come
into concerning faith. How could you bind and loosen a disease
in agreement with some one who doesn’t even believe that God will do what you
are asking Him for. So it is crucial that when you pray for something that
you find someone who will come into agreement with you. Because you must have
an appointment or come into agreement in order to follow the scriptural
pattern of binding and loosening. I trust that you will examine these
scriptures for yourself and ask the Lord to give you His revelation for
coming into agreement in prayer. There is great authority and power in two
agreeing over any issue. The key is to come into scriptural agreement. Pastor Larry |
