Where will you spend eternity?
I don’t mean heaven or hell; I mean heaven or earth? Having
been brought up in evangelical churches from childhood, I have developed
certain theology ideas. One is that I will be in heaven forever because I am a
believer. The theology is that when death or the rapture comes I will find
myself living in a mansion, strolling down golden streets in heaven. Will I?
Exploring scripture that seem to support the
“living in heaven” position, we find “In
my Father’s house are many mansions: if
it were not so, I would have told you. I
go to prepare a place for you. And if I
go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself;
that where I am, there ye may be also.”
"Blessed
are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
“Now
we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building
from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.” 2 Cor 5:1
“I
say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their
places at the feast with
These refer to a time
when the righteous will be taken temporarily from the earth –a time called “the
rapture” by church theology. What does the scripture teach us about our
eternal home? Where, eternally, does The Word teach us that we will live?

And all the nations will stream to it.
And many peoples will come and say,

To the house of the God of Jacob;
That He may teach us concerning His ways

And never again will they learn war.

Now, without trying to
cause a stir, I submit that after the rapture/tribulation is over, the
righteous in God will live forever on the earth with Yeshua/Jesus reigning from
