‘BOOMERANGING’ FOR CHRISTMAS

  

 

 Each Christmas I have a longing to truly know what this season is all about. I want to know how to have a heartfelt reason to celebrate it.

    The main way that we show our celebration during Christmas seems to be in giving. But my question is; do we really know what the meaning of ‘giving’ is?

    I decided to go to the ‘Source of Giving’ in order to find the answer…to The One who gave us His all. I went straight to Jesus.

    I asked Him, “Would You teach me how to truly give for Christmas? What can I give to YOU this year, Jesus…and truly feel like I’m giving?”

    I went through the list of what I thought He’d want, one by one; what I thought would be the best things that I could give to Him. This was revealing the only way that I knew how to give.

 

1.      Money.

I gave money to people in need. I gave in tithing. Somehow, in only the way that  God can do, I received back what I gave and more. The return was greater than what I gave. So who gave to whom here?

 

2.      Time.

I try to spend quality time with Jesus each day. For Christmas, I tried to spend more intimate time with Him in order to celebrate His birth. The more time I gave Him, the more time was given back to me. The day came back to me without any friction; flawless…everything was done faster and more efficient. Jesus redeemed my time. Again, who gave to whom here?

 

3.      My heart.

Once I fully gave Him my love and compassion and all that was in my heart, He repaired it, cleaned it up, and made it bigger with a larger capacity to hold. He then gave it back to me. My heart was renewed, rejuvenated, fuller and refreshed. Once again, who gave to whom here?

 

4.      My life.

This was the biggest gift of all…and what Jesus wanted the most from me. This was also the hardest to give away. But once I had decided to give Him my all…all of me in every way, He again could not keep it for Himself. He renewed my life, made my weaknesses His strengths, gave me new hope, gave me new goals, gave me new tools (gifts of the spirit) to be able to live as completely His, and then gave my life back to me. Again, who is gave to whom?

 

          THEN THE MOST AMAZING THING HAPPENED!

        He revealed to me that each one of these heartfelt gifts were not mine OR His to keep. Jesus took my money, my time, my heart, my life; He cleansed them, made them as the Father desired them, ‘boomeranged’ them back to me and now He works with me to give them to our Father…for His glory!

          Jesus has shown me HOW to give…WHY we give….WHAT to give….and again, He cannot keep these for Himself. He has perfected “boomeranging”; the gift of giving.

          This is our clear, Perfected Exanple of giving…BOOMERANGING!

          To work alongside Jesus in our goal of giving God all the glory for what He has given to us….THAT IS BOOMERANGING!

          And so my prayer this Christmas season is to come along side Jesus in my giving to the Father…that we ALL would learn how to ‘BOOMERANG’ as Jesus does……..

          MY PRAYER IS TO ‘BOOMERANG’ for CHRISTMAS!!!
