“THE DETECTIVE AND THE CLUE BOOK”

   When I saw the list of subjects to write about this month, I got nancy8.jpgso excited I could hardly stand it! One of my FAVORITE things about God’s word is His hidden mysteries. Layers and layers of clues to a righteous life are scattered throughout God’s “Book of Clues”!     And the fun is in the digging!

   There’s one really cool thing about digging for clues to uncover the treasure. The more you find, the more you want to find. You are digging for the silver and gold of life….WISDOM!

Pro 2:4  Search for wisdom as you would search for silver or hidden treasure.

Pro 16:16  How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! yea, to get understanding is rather to be chosen than silver.

   The hidden connections from clue to clue, makes reading God’s “Book of Clues” a way to uncovering the big mysteries of life, such as:

   *understanding what God wants from us in this life and the wisdom of how to give it to Him;

   *for what purpose were we created;

   *why God does what He does; all the “WHY’S, WHO’S, WHAT’S WHERE’S, HOW’S AND WHEN’S” of life.

   So, how do we find these answers?

   By searching the “Book of Clues”.

   Sometimes a word or phrase in the “Book of Clues”, just doesn’t fit, or we cannot grasp the meaning of that scripture. Maybe something just doesn’t make sense. Could this be the Holy Spirit saying “It’s time for you to be the “detective” and find the meaning to this “clue”….TIME TO PEAK YOUR CURIOUSITY!?

1Co 2:13  Which things also we speak, not in words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Spirit teacheth; combining spiritual things with spiritual words.

Here’s an example:

Gen 26:18-19  And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of Abraham his father; for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham: and he called their names after the names by which his father had called them. And Isaac's servants digged in the valley, and found there a well of springing water.

This stood out to me because the word “digged” was used three times in a short time (and that “digged” was bad grammar for us today). It just seemed important because of that. After I “digged”, I discovered because Isaac kept digging he not only found “old knowledge” (naming them the same names that his father named them), but he found new knowledge (a new well of springing, running water), a new refreshing knowledge. We can find new refreshing knowledge, too, by “digging” and to keep on digging into the “Book of Clues”.

Jas 1:5  If any of you need wisdom, you should ask God, and it will be given to you. God is generous and won't correct you for asking.

1Co 2:7  The wisdom I proclaim is God's secret wisdom, which is hidden from human beings, but which he had already chosen for our glory even before the world was made.

Still another example of discovering a hidden meaning is in the “questioning” of a phrase that doesn’t seem to fit. This one is found in Acts 19:19:

 “Also, many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. And they counted up the value of them, and it totaled fifty thousand pieces of silver.”

So my question was, what is the big deal about the value of these magic books? Why was it important enough to tell us their value?

Looking up the “clues” I found that the number ‘50,000’ meant “infinite freedom” and the “pieces of silver” meant “the price of a soul, redemption”, as when, in the days of the New Testament, masters would buy slaves. The “silver” shows the redemption price that Jesus paid for us on the cross.

So these people who practiced magic, burned “perverted knowledge” to gain the “redemption of their souls to infinite freedom”. They gave up their “old” ways for the ways of God. They received INFINITE FREEDOM!

   By applying this scripture to our lives today, we are to burn our “perverted knowledge” in the ways of the flesh, so we can have INFINITE FREEDOM, as they did!

 What TREASURE…and all found by following the “clues”.

We, as God’s chosen, God’s “detectives”, should always be searching for what He wants from us. In our life time, or for that matter a thousand life times, we could never search out and learn all that is in God’s “Book of Clues”. But the point is to keep searching, keep applying it to our everyday lives and keep hearing what the Holy Spirit says for us to do, using the very Book that we are to live by…The Bible. There, all the mysteries are hidden and there all the answers to life’s questions are found. The secret to pleasing Him in all things are in there. And our inquisitive minds are to keep on hungering for answers and direction, as led by the curiosity that the Holy Spirit gives us.

From clue 1 to clue 2, from point a to point b….the clues to reach the goal that God has set for our lives…..to please HIM…they’re all there…

In God’s “Book of Clues”.

This is the prayer I pray for you and me:

  (I) ask the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, to give you the Spirit, who will make you wise and reveal God to you, so that you will know him.

  I ask that your minds may be opened to see his light, so that you will know what is the hope to which he has called you, how rich are the wonderful blessings he promises his people,

  And how very great is his power at work in us who believe. This power working in us is the same as the mighty strength. (Eph.1: 17-19)

  (I pray), "O LORD, open his (our) eyes and let him (us) see!" (and) The LORD answered his prayer. (2Kings 6:17)
