Only a "Glimpse"
of Heaven
As a child, I had happy times. As a teen I had happy times. As an
adult I've had happy times. And in each of these human stages, I think God has
given me teeny "glimpses" of heaven. The 'tip of the iceberg' as some
people say.
As a child I can remember the euphoria of laying under our fresh cut Christmas
tree; inhaling heavenly scents, a bit of heaven
to a 6 year old. Studying each colorful light and
ornament; heavenly 'eye-candy'.
All senses were beginning new...first time experiences. God was revealing to me
some of the gifts He'd created for us on earth, through our senses. A
"glimpse" of what heaven will be.
As a teen, I experienced the love of the Holy Spirit...a teeny bit of heaven
because our bodies can't hold all the Spirit has for us; but our heavenly
bodies will be able to hold all the Holy Spirit can give. I experienced the newness of love...love of
God, love of others and love FOR others. A little "glimpse" of what
love there will be in heaven.
And as an adult, not only do I receive "glimpses" of heaven through
the Holy Spirit, love and the senses, but I feel heaven in
Can you imagine what heaven will be like? We'll receive a new body that will be
able to absorb all the new senses that heaven has to offer! Smells that will make
our new bodies tingle. Sights that will make our hearts pound with joy. Touches
that will expand our sense o touch. Sounds that will make us
dance, laugh, cry, and sing...all at the same
time.
We only get "glimpses" of heaven here on earth. Just
enough to let us now the hope of heaven, and the glory that will pour out on us
from God and His Son.
But the best "glimpse" of heaven is when we experience
I won't settle for a
"glimpse"! I want ALL heaven has to offer! An eternity at my Master's
feet!
A "glimpse"? NOT ENOUGH! I will live my life KNOWING the hope of heaven awaits! I'll do EXACTLY what it takes to get
there...loving and obeying my God!
Heaven...THE REAL THING! HERE I COME!
