"The Shiph-Pu Spirit"

The president of the United States interrupts all television and radio broadcasts with this announcement:

 
"Christians are becoming too influential in the United States. As of today, all Christian baby boys are to be disposed of by all doctors and/or nurses of the hospitals they are birthed in. Any disobedience of this direct presidential order will have dire consequences to all involved, which could in include severe punishment, even death."

What would YOU do? Do you have more "fear of man"...even the United States president...then you have "fear of God"...our Creator? Here is the Bible's example of "fear of man" verses "fear of God"...

The Hebrew people were enslaved by the Egyptians. Even though they
were slaves, God blessed His chosen people by multiplying them. So great
were they in number that they threatened their captors. No matter how
hard the Egyptians worked them, the Hebrew people increased "as the
sands of the seashore".

So, Pharaoh gave an order to the midwives, Shiphrah and Puah: "When you help the Hebrew woman give birth, kill all the boys as soon as they are born. Allow only the baby  irls to live." (Exodus 1:15)    Can you imagine? The only way the Egyptians could reduce the "threat" of God's people was to kill the innocent babies as they were born.

Now Pharaoh was the ruler of not only Egypt, but of the Hebrews. He, and his subjects, considered him a real 'god'. Disobey him and you and your family would suffer the consequences.

Shiphrah and Puah KNEW the TRUE God, YAHWEH! And choosing to obey God, verses Pharaoh, was a 'no-brainer', to them. They knew Pharaohs capabilities and they knew God’s capabilities. Obey the king of earth or the King of the UNIVERSE?

Taking steps, as lowly woman, (second class citizens in those days), they defied Pharaoh and let the baby boys live, telling Pharaoh,"...the Hebrew woman are not like the Egyptian Woman, for they are lively and give birth before the midwives come to them."    These two woman knew what Pharaoh could do to them... they saw the fear he put into others. And yet, they had NO FEAR of man...even Pharaoh.

They so revered God that 'fear of man' was taken from them. Pharaoh could hurt them physically but the Creator controlled ALL things. They allowed the power of God to work through them to save the baby Hebrew boys. They 'feared God' MORE than man, giving God the reverence, respect and awe that He deserves.   

 

When we know the holiness of God and give Him the reverence due Him, He fills us with greater wisdom, knowledge and blessings. But fear of man brings strife and MORE fear. "Therefore God, dealt well with the midwives, and the people multiplied and grew very mightily. And so it was, because the midwives feared God that He provided households for hem." (Exodus 1:20-21) If the president of the United States told YOU to "get rid" of all the baby boys in YOUR family...would you? Knowing you could be arrested, jailed, your family persecuted or arrested and killed? All earthly punishments, but if we know we are obeying God, we can trust that He will protect us and our family in our obedience to Him....in any and ALL things!

God's holiness is to dwell in us, because we, through His Son Jesus, are God's kids. We can trust, that if we obey God's will, He will not only keep our earthly bodies safe, well, and provided for, but also our very soul and spirit will dwell with Him forever...eternal life. That, you can take to the bank! It's His promise to us!

 

Choosing between 'fear of man' or 'fear of God' should be a
'no-brainer'!
