“ONE
LITTLE PRAYER”
A simple
little poem by Nancy Bauer
Afraid and alone,
She didn’t know why,
“What happened to get me here?”
She started to cry.
Who could she talk to?
Where could she go?
Where were the people who said
They’d never leave her alone?
Her heart cried for mercy,
Her tears kept flowing,
Her head knew there was someone
Someone worth knowing.
Someone to understand all the hurt she was
feeling
To her knees she then fell,
Her heart was still bleeding.
“Here I am, Lord, take me today!”
For she knew only He could take her pain away.
She knew that He heard her, she was never alone,
She knew that He loved her, and would carry her
home.
The peace that she felt through that one little
prayer,
Gave hope that she needed,
Gave life
a new dare.
“You are there, my Lord, I almost forgot,
That You answer our prayers when others will
not.
Life will be better, for You are my Friend,
So the life that I share with You will be ours
till the end.”
She suddenly felt hope, that no other could
give,
She knew she would make it,
A life fuller lived.
He saved her from sorrow,
He saved her from death,
With that one little prayer,
He gave her new breath.
Never again will she forget to pray,
To the One Who heard her in her distress that
day.
