HOW A TURKEY IS PREPARED……FOR PURPOSE

I believe that turkey’s go to heaven!

Why?

Because I’m a turkey and God is my Chef!

Picture this:

Millions of turkeys are pinned up in a huge fence. They wait to see if they are chosen for their                                        purpose….Thanksgiving dinner.

These turkey’s are all of mankind. The huge fence is the world.

nancB.jpgDo you see that fluffy one with the dirty feet? That’s ME! I fluff my feathers out to try and look bigger than I really am. I try to bring attention to myself so that I will be chosen for my life’s purpose…..someone’s turkey dinner.

Believe it or not, we are all chosen. Not to be eaten as a turkey dinner, but chosen to serve God. That was why He created us. We were created so He could love us and we could love Him back.

The other day as I was thinking about my preparation of a turkey for Thanksgiving, I imagined that I was this turkey. I could actually see God’s plan for my life (and yours) by comparing a turkey dinner to a life full of God-given purpose.

Here is the recipe for roasting a turkey AND for that purpose-led-life:

1.)  Buy a turkey.

Christ bought and paid for us when He gave His life on the cross. We can forever be God’s little turkeys. All we have to do is believe in Jesus as God’s Son. Now we can talk or gobble to God anytime and anywhere.

2.)  Plan the preparation and roasting time.

God has a plan for each of our lives. The Bible says He planned out our lives BEFORE we were even born. Not only does He have a total plan for our lives, but He knows the timing of every little detail.

3.) Combine the following ingredients to create the stuffing:

a.) SPICES, for individual character traits especially made to fit our individual jobs in life.

b.) ONIONS AND CELERY, both from the earth, showing we are all connected….we all have the same            “dirt” in us.

c.) BREAD CUBES, one of the two major ingredients. God’s Bible is the Bread of Life. Jesus is our Mana      from heaven. Feed ourselves with this Bread and be full of wisdom, knowledge and understanding of life.

d.) WATER, the second of the main ingredients. Water is the Holy Spirit that brings God’s very actions and          character into our lives.

e.) BUTTER (melted on low HEAT), to bring moisture and saltiness into the taste of the stuffing and turkey     itself. Tenderness and preservation are baked right in us by our Chef, God. We are chosen and anointed for His works.

4.)Stuff the turkey.

Stuff into the most inward parts of the turkey. (God stuffs inside us what is uniquely ours so as to get the job done that God has called us to do.)

5.) Rub with butter to hold in juice and for browning.

We are anointed by the oil of God to show we have been chosen to take action in the job He has created us to do. This shows the power and strength of God in us.

6.) Wrap in foil.

We are to cover ourselves in faith in God and in prayer to Him. This quickens the maturing process.

7.) Heat the oven.

Prepared, anointed and wrapped in faith and prayer, we wait for the “heat” of life that makes us ready for God’s job in maturing us. The testing of the “oven of life” is coming.

8.) Turkey goes into oven.

And now we bake. We are allowed by God to go through tests and trials that grow us into more faith in Him. But He never makes it “hotter” than we can stand. He knows how much “heat” we can handle.

9.) Repeatedly check to see if turkey is done.

Over and over God checks us to see how we’ve matured. We may need a few more minutes in the oven, or another hour, but God, in His love, is teaching us more faith in Him and giving us more wisdom, strength and understanding.

10.) AND FINALLY… the turkey is baked to a golden juicy brown….COMPLETED!

We are now ready to complete the job God has given to us for our lives. Our purpose! We have learned how to rely on God through testing and trials.

11.) Carve the turkey and serve…..TO OTHERS.

Prepared with wisdom, knowledge, understanding and faith, we now confidently share with others what was taught to us. We can help them along on the path of tests and trials. We share the “MEAT” with them…..slice by slice.

I know I was chosen by God for His purposes……I’m His chosen turkey.

So……POKE ME WITH A FORK! Am I done?

NOPE…….I still need roasting, but in the process I will wrap those prayers of faith tightly around me and wait for what’s to come. I know this will help me to complete that purpose God gave me. And I know that through it all, I will be cooked to perfection.

YUP! Turkey’s DO go to heaven! I plan on seeing you ALL there! Bird’s of a feather, flock together ya know.

GOBBLE GOBBLE!

God bless you all and Happy New Year!

Nancy

 RELATED SCRIPTURES

PURCHASED:

Act 20:28  Take heed unto yourselves, and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit hath made you bishops, to feed the church of the Lord which he purchased with his own blood.

BOUGHT:

   1Co 6:19  Or know ye not that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which ye have from God? and ye are not your own;

1Co 6:20  for ye were bought with a price: glorify God therefore in your body.

Co 7:21  Were you a slave when God called you? Well, never mind; but if you have a chance to become free, use it.

1Co 7:22  For a slave who has been called by the Lord is the Lord's free person; in the same way a free person who has been called by Christ is his slave.

1Co 7:23  God bought you for a price; so do not become slaves of people.

PLAN:

Eph 3:11  God did this according to his eternal plan. And he was able to do what he had planned because of all that Christ Jesus our Lord had done.

Eph 3:12  Christ now gives us courage and confidence, so that we can come to God by faith.

Pro 19:21  People may plan all kinds of things, but the LORD's will is going to be done.

Amo 3:7  The Sovereign LORD never does anything without revealing his plan to his servants, the prophets.

Eph 1:11  All things are done according to God's plan and decision; and God chose us to be his own people in union with Christ because of his own purpose, based on what he had decided from the very beginning.

Eph 1:9  God did what he had purposed, and made known to us the secret plan he had already decided to complete by means of Christ.

Eph 1:10  This plan, which God will complete when the time is right, is to bring all creation together, everything in heaven and on earth, with Christ as head.

Eph 1:11  All things are done according to God's plan and decision; and God chose us to be his own people in union with Christ because of his own purpose, based on what he had decided from the very beginning.

Col 1:27  God's plan is to make known his secret to his people, this rich and glorious secret which he has for all peoples. And the secret is that Christ is in you, which means that you will share in the glory of God.

CHOSEN BEFORE BIRTH:

Jer 1:4  The LORD said to me,

Jer 1:5  "I chose you before I gave you life, and before you were born I selected you to be a prophet to the nations."

TESTING AND TRIALS

Job 23:10  But he knows what I am doing, and when he tests me, I will be pure as gold.

Pro 27:21  Fire tests gold and silver; a person's reputation can also be tested.

1Th 2:4  Instead, we always speak as God wants us to, because he has judged us worthy to be entrusted with the Good News. We do not try to please people, but to please God, who tests our motives.

Psa 18:30  As for God, his way is perfect: The word of Jehovah is tried; He is a shield unto all them that take refuge in him

Psa 66:10  For thou, O God, hast proved us: Thou hast tried us, as silver is tried.

Pro 27:21  The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold; And a man is tried by his praise.

Zec 13:9  And I will bring the third part into the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried. They shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people; and they shall say, Jehovah is my God.

PURIFIED BY FIRE (TESTING)

Num 31:22  Everything that will not burn, such as gold, silver, bronze, iron, tin, or lead, is to be purified by passing it through fire. Everything else is to be purified by the water for purification.

Psa 66:10  You have put us to the test, God; as silver is purified by fire, so you have tested us.

Zec 13:9  And I will test the third that survives and will purify them as silver is purified by fire. I will test them as gold is tested. Then they will pray to me, and I will answer them. I will tell them that they are my people, and they will confess that I am their God."

Mar 9:49  "Everyone will be purified by fire as a sacrifice is purified by salt.

WE HAVE ALL WE NEED FOR VICTORY

Rom 8:31  In view of all this, what can we say? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Rom 8:37  No, in all these things we have complete victory through him who loved us!

Rom 8:39  neither the world above nor the world below---there is nothing in all creation that will ever be able to separate us from the love of God which is ours through Christ Jesus our Lord.

2Co 1:4  He helps us in all our troubles, so that we are able to help others who have all kinds of troubles, using the same help that we ourselves have received from God.

2Co 1:21  It is God himself who makes us, together with you, sure of our life in union with Christ; it is God himself who has set us apart,

2Co 1:22  who has placed his mark of ownership upon us, and who has given us the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the guarantee of all that he has in store for us.

2Co 3:5  There is nothing in us that allows us to claim that we are capable of doing this work. The capacity we have comes from God;

2Co 3:18  All of us, then, reflect the glory of the Lord with uncovered faces; and that same glory, coming from the Lord, who is the Spirit, transforms us into his likeness in an ever greater degree of glory.

2Co 4:7  Yet we who have this spiritual treasure are like common clay pots, in order to show that the supreme power belongs to God, not to

Eph 1:19  and how very great is his power at work in us who believe. This power working in us is the same as the mighty strength

Eph 1:20  which he used when he raised Christ from death and seated him at his right side in the heavenly world

COMPLETED/PERFECTED

Jn 2:5  but whoso keepeth his word, in him verily hath the love of God been perfected. Hereby we know that we are in him:

1Jn 2:6  he that saith he abideth in him ought himself also to walk even as he walked.

Joh 17:22  And the glory which thou hast given me I have given unto them; that they may be one, even as we are one;

Joh 17:23  I in them, and thou in me, that they may be perfected into one; that the world may know that thou didst send me, and lovedst them, even as thou lovedst me.
