EXPECTATION: Sir, we would see Jesus.

Introduction
¨
Israel is the barometer of the
spiritual timetable.
¨
When things happening there, things
are happening in the spirit.
¨
No one knows the hour or day but we
know He is coming soon.
¨
We can be sure it will seem like no
time & we will be in God’s presence.
Rom 9:28 For he will finish the work, and cut it short in
righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.
Est 4:14 For if you hold
your peace at this time, then shall relief and deliverance will come to the
Jews from another place; but you and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and
who know but that you are come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
Jn 12:20 Now there were some Greeks among those who went up to
worship at the Feast. 21 They came to Philip,
who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, with a request. "Sir," they said,
"we would like to see Jesus."

Knowing God - Dan
11:32(b)
· NIV the people that do know their God
shall be strong, and do exploits.
· AMP but the people who know their God shall
prove themselves strong and shall stand firm and do exploits (for God).
·
RSV the
people who know their God shall stand firm and take action.
·
LB the
people who know their God shall be strong and do great things.
Know: to ascertain by
seeing; familiar friend, endued with
Job 4:5 My ears had
heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.
· Come to church & bible studies & hear
· Tell you all about my brother, but unless you spend time with
him you will never know for yourself
· Can learn all about Jesus but we must spend time in His presence
to get to know him for ourselves
Jn 4:29
"Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be
the Christ?"
Jn 4:42 They
said to the woman, "We no longer believe just because of what you said;
now we have heard (him) for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the
Saviour of the world."
· No substitute for spending time with God
· Jer 29:13 And ye shall
seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
· Not a case of I will try that…it’s a case of I will DO that
Ps 123:s2 As the eyes of
slaves look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid look to the hand
of her mistress, so our eyes look to the LORD our God, till he shows us his
mercy.
Ps 105:4 Look to the
LORD and his strength; seek his face always.
Jn 15:15 I no longer
call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business.
Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my
Father I have made known to you.
Only way we know is by spending time with Him.
Lk 14:10 But when you are invited (to a wedding feast), take the
lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, 'Friend, go up
higher.' Then you will be honoured in the presence of all your fellow guests.
Our part is to humble ourselves before Him
3. Being strong
strong: fortify, be constant,
encourage (self), be established, (lay) hold (fast), take (hold), be urgent,
behave self valiantly, withstand.
a.
become mighty,
prevail, conquer
· Like ad that showed competitors & said “you are my adversary
but you are not my enemy, your resistance makes me strong”
· Like to be able to say that you can be strong without exercising
but you cannot.
· Gaining strength is all about overcoming resistance.
· Chat example “I’ve reached a point in my walk where there really
IS no turning back! I’ve always sung that
song but I’d question whether I was wholeheartedly going in His direction no
matter what. And at times I have kinda
turned back, even in the last 5 years….but now that is not an option, I know
God too well to ever consider an alternative.
So what ever happens, I’m in. J
Heb 5:14 But
solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to
distinguish good from evil.
b.
to fasten upon;
hence to seize
Matt 11:12 From the days of John the Baptist until now,
the kingdom of heaven has been suffering violence (forcefully advancing), and
forceful men lay hold of it.
Suffers
violence
to force, i.e. (reflex.) to crowd oneself
(into), press, suffer violence.
Mk 5:24 So Jesus went with him. A large crowd followed and pressed
around him. 25 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for
twelve years. 26 She had suffered a
great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet
instead of getting better she grew worse. 27 When she heard about Jesus, she
came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, 28 because she thought,
"If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed." 29 Immediately her
bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her
suffering.
Mark 2:2 So many gathered that there was no room left, not even
outside the door, and he preached the word to them. 3 Some men came, bringing
to him a paralytic, carried by four of them. 4 Since they could not get him to
Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus and,
after digging through it, lowered the mat the paralysed man was lying on. 5
When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are
forgiven."
¨ What this man needed to hear
¨ May have suffered condemnation, done something really bad
¨ Only as he got close to Jesus could Jesus touch him, spiritually
& physically
How hungry are we? Do we
give up at the first sign of trouble, or are we willing to press in to see
& be touched by God?
1 Chr 11:11 this is the
list of David's mighty men: Jashobeam, a Hacmonite, was chief of the officers ;
he raised his spear against three hundred men, whom he killed in one encounter.
12 Next to him was Eleazar son of Dodai
the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men. 13
He was with David at Pas Dammim when the Philistines gathered there for
battle. At a place where there was a field full of barley, the troops fled from
the Philistines. But they took their stand in the middle of the field. They
defended it and struck the Philistines down, and the LORD brought about a great
victory.
2 Sam 23:10 but he stood
his ground and struck down the Philistines till his hand grew tired and froze
to the sword. The LORD brought about a great victory that day.
Jn 14:12 I tell you the
truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do
even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
13 And I will do
whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.
14 You may ask me for anything in my
name, and I will do it.
Rom 8:31 What, then,
shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
Expectation
Ps 62:5 My soul, wait
thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.
Expectation: intense
anticipation:--earnest expectation.
a cord thing
that I long for.
Heb 6:18 …. we who have
fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged. 19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul,
firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain,
Pro 23:18 There is surely a future hope for you, and your
expectation will not be cut off.
Rom 8: 19 The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons
of God to be revealed.
Ac 4:13 When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized
that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took
note that these men had been with Jesus.
· All we go through is not simply for its own sake Jn 15:16 You
did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed (placed) you to go and bear
fruit--fruit that will last.
· All around us there are people like those in Jn 12:21 the same
came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him,
saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.
· They will only see Him in us to the extent that we are “in Him.”
