THE HUMAN DILEMMA

Let�s take a look at some Scripture � to see how we got in the mess we are in�and how God has gotten us out of it.

Gen 2:16-17 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

We all know what happened after this dire warning from God. The warning that man would lose spiritual life was not heeded. God warned that man would become temporarily alive.

Gen 2:1-6 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, we may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

By listening to Satan and disobeying God, our first parents started mankind on the course of sin and death. God loved them so much, He made a temporary provision to keep the lines of communication open; by providing a temporary covering for their sin. He also promised to provide a permanent solution to man�s problem of sin and death.

Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee (satan) and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

God promised to defeat Satan by the seed of woman.

1 Tim 2:13-15 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety. The first woman, Eve, was promised that a woman would come and conceive a child; not by the seed of a man, but a seed of a woman.

This promised was fulfilled when Mary became pregnant by the seed of God�s word.

Luke 1:30-35 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

Now how did this pregnancy occur?

Luke 1:34-35 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?� And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

What role did the Word of God play in this conception?

Luke 8:11 �The seed is the word of God� The seed Mary received was the Word of God.
Mary believed the Word spoken to her.

Luke 1:38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

The second part of the promise made to Eve, was that this child would come by the seed of a woman, would defeat Satan, and undo all that he had done.

1John 3:8 �For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil�

The law given to Moses was only to keep us, until the promise made to Eve was fulfilled.

Galatians 3:19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. As Jesus was the product of the Word of God, which is the seed of God, so we also, when we are born again of the Spirit, are the product of the Word of God.

1Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. Sin and death were brought on us all by the disobedience of our first parents.

Sin and death are a part of your life, not because of anything you have done, but as the result of our first parents. You and I received this nature that is subject to sin and death by heredity.

� You and I were born with the nature of sin in us.

� You and I were born with temporal life.

� We are all born to live and to die.

It does not alter your state in any way, if you do marvelous works of righteousness or not.
You will still have the sin nature and some day die. Your sin nature is not the product of your doing. Death is not the product of your doing.

You and I were born with a sinful nature and are under the curse of death.

� I sinned because it was my nature to sin.

� I die because it is programmed into my genetic code to die.

� I had nothing to do with either condition.
�� ▫1Cor:15:22: �in Adam all die�
�� ▫ Heb:9:27: �it is appointed unto men once to die�

� Death is unavoidable.

� Sin is unavoidable.

� The law of sin is in my physical body, I was born with it.

Romans 7:23: �the law of sin which is in my members� It is beyond the scope or ability of mankind to change the condition of sin and death with which he is born.

1Corinthians15:50: Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption (flesh subject to death) inherit incorruption (flesh not subject to death).

No matter how much good you do, you were still born with a sinful nature. Your sinful nature leads you to sin, and sin brings death. What a dilemma we find ourselves in.

� Who shall save us from the mess we find ourselves in?
� Who shall save us from the sin that we are born with?
� Who shall save us from the curse of death we inherited?

Romans 7:24-25 O� wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

� Jesus came into the world to destroy the works of the Devil.

� Jesus came to bring eternal life to us, who were incapable of delivering

� ourselves from the curse of sin and death.

John 3:5-6 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

What must I do to receive eternal life?

John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

How do I receive deliverance from the curse of sin and death?

Rom 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Man is delivered from the curse of sin and death by confessing and receiving the Lord Jesus Christ into their hearts. When we do that, we authorize God�s word to produce in us, new and eternal life.

Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
