REFLECT, AND HEAR GOD’S VOICE
Pastor Ronald L Berry, SW Washington
SET A
TIME TO REFLECT AND HEAR GOD’S VOICE.
<> It is important for each of us to find a time
on a regular basis to hear from God.
<> You
need to stop some of the activity in your life to hear the voice of God.
Now is a special time of reflection on your
life.
Proverbs 4: 26-27 “Ponder the path of thy
feet, and let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to
the left: remove thy foot from evil.”
WHO Makes THEIR WAY straight??
God’s spirit witnesses to our spirit.
God speaks to us by His Word, by His Spirit,
and by people that speak God’s truth.
Romans 8:14-17 “For as many as are led
by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the
spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption,
whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit,
that we are the children of God. And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and
joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also
glorified together.”
Deuteronomy 28:1 “Obey the voice of the
Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments….”
ASSESSING
OUR TIME WITH GOD.
1.
What is happening in your life right now concerning God’s plan?
2.
What has happened in the days gone by?
3.
Where are you headed in the days ahead?
4.
What areas of your life are in trouble and distress?
5.What
corrections are you making to adjust your course?
6.
Where will you be in God’s plan this same time a year from now or five years
from now?
Failure to plan is a plan to fail.
What keeps people from times of reflection?
The most common excuse or rather evasion is
busyness.
Often people substitute activity for intimacy
with God.
Everyone needs to have Selah time with God.
Selah time means to take time to pause,
meditate, and reflect on God’s Word.
Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know
that I am God….”
2Timothy 2:7 “Consider what I say;
and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.”
David reflected on God’s promises.
Psalm 3:1-8 LORD, how are they
increased that trouble me! many are they
that rise up against me.
2: Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him
in God. Selah.
3: But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the
lifter up of mine head.
4: I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of
his holy hill. Selah.
5: I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained
me.
6: I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have
set themselves against me round about.
7: Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all
mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.
8: Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy
people. Selah.
Whose listening?
God is always speaking, but are you
listening?
Those that hear choose to hear and those that
don’t hear choose not to hear.
Usually the things we choose not to hear are
God’s Words of rebuke or correction.
We are selective to what we want to hear.
God always uses His word to rebuke and
correct His children.
Revelation 2-3 “He that has ears to hear what the Spirit is
saying”
Hebrews 3:7 “Hear His voice and
don’t harden your heart”
John 10:3 the sheep hear his
voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
John 10: 27 My sheep hear my voice,
and I know them, and they follow me:
QuestionS:
What has God been speaking to you about this
week?
·
Obeying God’s clear instructions leads to the
abundant life.
·
Choosing to ignore God’s clear instructions
assures you failure and misery.
·
No choice is a choice.
No action is an action.
·
It is a choice to succeed or fail in life!
·
Are you in compliance with God’s plans for
your life?
·
Are you doing what God told you to do?
BE A
DOER OF THE WORD
·
This week make a decision to have some
“Selah” time.
·
Make a decision do what God tells you.
·
Be a doer of God’s Word and not a hearer
only.
James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all
filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the
engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers
only, deceiving your own selves.
Choose not to be self deceived.
Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is
not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Think on this!
When we are lead by the voice of God’s Spirit
, we are walking as God’s children!
When we choose to ignore God’s voice, guess
has children we are walking like?
Romans 8:14 – “For as many as are
led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”
Have
a God-Day!
