GOD, THE WORD
Study
text: John 1:1-5 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with
God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things
were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him
was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness;
and the darkness comprehended it not.
God
The Word, is a Person: The word “Word” in
John chapter one is capitalized, that is because it is a proper name.
Who
is, The Word?
Rev 19:11-13 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse;
and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he
doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were
many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And
he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word
of God.
This can be no
other then, Jesus Christ and He that came to Earth and lived among men.
John 1:14 And the Word
was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of
the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
The
eternal Word:
The words spoken by an eternal
God are also eternal words.
Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall
not pass away.
The spoken Word and the living
Word, Jesus, are both eternal.
Isaiah 40:8 The word of our God shall stand for ever.
The spoken Word,
the written Word, and the living Word are all eternal Words.
Psalm 119:89 Forever,
O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.
At the
name of jesus:
Every person saved or lost will
submit to the authority of God the Word.
Romans 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every
knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
Philippians 2:10-11 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and
things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should
confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
We can bow now or
we will bow later, but we will most assuredly all answer to the Word of God.
The Word will not
change so we must understand that we If God’s Word wont change then it us who
must change and come into compliance.
John
1:1 In the
beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
“In
the beginning”
In the beginning
God decided to replicate Himself. God created a universe for His children to
live in, then after He made a place for them He created them in His image.
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the
earth.
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of
God created he him; male and female created he them.
God made man to be His child in
His image.
Ephesians 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the
foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in
love:
God’s eternal purposes were carried out by the Word of
God, Jesus the Christ.
2 Timothy 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy
calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and
grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, The destiny
of mankind was predetermined before the world was created.
The thoughts,
deeds, and actions of men will not change the sovereign destiny determined by
God!
“In the beginning was the Word”
John17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own
self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God”
¨
Word and God are
synonymous with each other, they are the same.
¨
God and His Word
are one!
John 8:23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am
from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.
¨
Jesus was the Word
of God before the world began.
¨
Jesus’ name means,
God with us”!
Matthew1:23 Behold, a
virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call
his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
> The Word of God spoke to Moses out of the burning bush.
Notice the words used:
Exodus 3:6: “Moreover he (God) said t(to Moses), I am the God of thy father, the
God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob”
> God states “I am” “the Father of Abraham”
Exodus 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he
said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto
you.
> God calls Himself the I Am, which means the
ever-existent One!
Jesus
claims to be god.
John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto
you, Before Abraham was, I am.
¨
Jesus uses the same
two premises to describe Himself, by referring to Abraham and the I Am, the
ever existent One!
¨
Jesus is indeed God
in the flesh!
John 14:8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and
it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him,
Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he
that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the
Father?
Jesus affirms who He is to
Philip by saying that He and the Father are the same Person.
John
1:2 The same was
in the beginning with God.
Before there was anything, there was the Word.
Jesus is the Word of God and
pre-existed with the Father before the world was created.
Colossians 1:14 (Jesus) In
whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is
the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him
were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and
invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers:
all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and
by him all things consist.
Jesus was before
all things and all things are the result of the Word of God, Jesus!
Jesus plainly
stated that He pre-existed with the Father before the world was created.
John
1:3 All things
were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
God created all things by Jesus, the Living Word.
Ephesians 3:9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of
the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who
created all things by Jesus Christ:
All things are the product of Jesus, the Word of God.
Colossians1:15 Christ
is the exact likeness of the unseen God. He existed before God made anything at
all, and, in fact, Christ himself is the Creator who made everything in heaven
and earth, the things we can see and the things we can't; the spirit world with
its kings and kingdoms, its rulers and authorities; all were made by Christ for
his own use and glory. He was before all
else began and it is his power that holds everything together. In Him we live, move and have our very being. In the
Word of God we have our very existence.
Acts 17:28 “in him (God) we live, and move, and have our being”
We owe
our existence to Jesus,
the
living Word of God.
All things exist because of the
spoken Word of God.
Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were
framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of
things which do appear.
TLB Hebrews 11:3 By
faith--by believing God--we know that the world and the stars--in fact, all
things--were made at God's command; and that they were all made from things
that can't be seen.
We know that at the
Word of God all things came into existence and will remain there until the Word
of God is accomplished it’s purposes.
2 Peter 3:7 But
the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same Word are kept in store,
reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
John
1:4 In him was
life; and the life was the light of men.
Jesus is the Word of God.
JESUS IS THE WORD OF GOD:
John 14:24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and
the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
Jesus is the life of the world.
John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profits
nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
Jesus is the light.
John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the
light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall
have the light of life.
His entrance of the Word brings
us life eternal.
John 5:24 Verily,
verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent
me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed
from death unto life.
John 1:5
And the light
shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
Jesus is the light of the world
but the world did not want His light.
John 12:46 I am come a
light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in
darkness.
People that do not
want to recognize their sin continue on in the darkness. We are all in the
shadow of darkness but in order to have a shadow one must be near to a light.
Luke 1:79 To give light to them that sit in darkness and in
the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.
The revelation of Jesus will
bring us the light that leads to salvation.
John 8:12 Then spake
Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth
me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
Those that reject the light are
consigned to outer darkness.
John 3:19 And this is
the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness
rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
God
begat us by the word of truth.
James 1:18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth,
that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
We are
born again by the word of god.
1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible,
by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
He
that heareth my word.
John 5:24 Verily,
verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent
me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed
from death unto life.
Have a GOD-Day,
