IT’S GOD’S BATTLE  - Part I

What does God have to say about our “battles in life?”  In the light of the threat of Iraq and other terrorists that mean harm against Christians in all nations, let’s look at what God’s Word reveals to us.  There are several Scriptures that deal with ungodly leaders versus the victory God provides for His people.  The dates and names have changed, but God’s Promises remain the same NOW for us, as they did for them.

(Key Scripture)  Psalms 91:1:16 (NLB)

(1)           Those who live in the shelter of the Most High (Elyon) will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. (Shaddai)

(2)           This I declare of the LORD (ADONAI):  He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I am trusting him,

(3)           for he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from the fatal plague.

(4)           He will shield you with his wings.  He will shelter you with his feathers.  His faithful promises are your armor and protection.

(5)           Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor fear the dangers of the day,

(6)           Nor dread the plague that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday.

(7)           Though a thousand falls at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you.

(8)           But you will see it with your eyes; you will see how the wicked are punished.

(9) If you make the LORD (ADONAI) your refuge, if you make the

               Most High (Elyon) your shelter,

        (10) No evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your dwelling.

(11)             For he orders his angels to protect you wherever you go.

(12)             They will hold you with their hands to keep you from striking your foot on a stone.

(13)             You will trample down lions and poisonous snakes; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet!

(14)             The LORD (ADONAI) says, “I will rescue those who love me.  I will protect those who trust in my name.

(15)             When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble.  I will rescue them and honor them.

(16)             I will satisfy them with a long life and give them my salvation.”

Obedience to God = Invincibility

        Deut. 7:23-24 (NLB)

(23) But the LORD your God will hand them over to you.  He will throw them into complete confusion until they are destroyed.

(24) He will put their kings in your power, and you will erase their names from the face of the earth.  No one will be able to stand against you, and you will destroy them all.

We don’t need to be fearful of what the evil leaders of terrorist countries threaten, because God is on our side.

Deut. 11:25 (NLB)

No one will be able to stand against you, for the LORD your God will send fear ahead of you, as he promised you, wherever you go in the whole land.

We can drive around town and walk down the streets without fear of terrorists because God sends fear ahead of us, as he has promised.

Deut. 28:7 (NKJ)

The LORD will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.

We can depend on the Word of God.  If he says he will do it, you can be sure he will do as he says.

Josh. 1:5 (NLB)

No one will be able to stand their ground against you as long as you live.  For I will be with you as I was with Moses.  I will not fail you or abandon you.

What a wonderful promise!  He will never fail us or abandon us.  And no one will be able to stand against us as long as we live!  Wow!  Is that protection or what!

Josh. 23:8-11 (NLB)

(8) Be faithful to the LORD your God as you have done until now.

(9) “For the LORD has driven out great and powerful nations for you, and no one has yet been able to defeat you.

(10) Each one of you will put to flight a thousand of the enemy, for the LORD your God fights for you, just as he has promised.

(11) So be very careful to love the LORD your God.

The United States has never been defeated.  There are many Christians living here and praying for this country.  We who love the LORD will continue to pray and have faith in Him and His Word.

Divine Protector (God of Battle)

Ex. 14:14 (NLB)

The LORD himself will fight for you.  You won’t have to lift a finger in your defense!”

Is God not capable of defending us?  If he could cause an entire army drop everything and run for their lives when no one was even after them, can he not do the same for us?

Ex. 23:27 (CJB)

I will send terror of me ahead of you, throwing into confusion all the people to whom you come; and I will make all your enemies turn their backs on you.

Isn’t the land of Iraq already in confusion?  The people live in terror for their lives from their own leaders.  The people are not our enemies, but Satan controls their leaders.

2Chr. 20:29 (NKJ)

And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of those countries when they heard that the LORD had fought against the enemies of Israel.

Aren’t these nations who have been committing terrorist acts also enemies of Israel?  I’m so glad that the US is allied with Israel.  We need to keep praying that we will always be for Israel.

2Chr. 32:8 (NLB)

He may have a great army, but they are just men.  We have the LORD our God to help us and to fight our battles for us!”

We have all heard of the mass amounts of men that will be fighting for Iraq.  But, as the Word says, “They are just men, and we have the LORD our God on our side.”

Divine Protection Promised To The Believers

Ps. 34:7 (NKJ)

The angel of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them.

Who is the angel of the LORD?  Jesus!  Who is seated at the right hand of the Father, making intercession for the believers?  Jesus!  Who is our deliverer?  Jesus!  We are in good hands aren’t we?

Ps. 125:1-4 (NLB)

1.     Those who trust in the LORD are as secure as Mount

Zion; they will not be defeated but will endure forever.

2.     Just as the mountains surround and protect Jerusalem, so the        LORD surrounds and protects his people, both now and forever.

3.     The wicked will not rule the godly, for then the godly might

be forced to do wrong.

4.     O LORD, do good to those who are good, whose hearts are in tune with you.

Both now and forever!  The LORD surrounds and protects us. We are secure in his arms.

God Our Defense

Ps. 5:11-12 (NKJ)

 (11) But let all those rejoice who put their trust in you.  Let them ever shout for joy, because you defend them; Let those also who love your name be joyful in you.

(12) For you, O LORD, will bless the righteous; with favor you will surround him as with a shield.

It is a good thing to put faith in our LORD.  He is pleased by our faith when it is put into action.  How do we put action to our faith? Read his Word and believe it is true.  Speak the truth we want instead of the things we don’t want.

God Our Fortress

Ps. 18:1-3 (NLB)

(1) I love you, LORD; you are my strength.

(2) The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God                  is my rock, in whom I find protection.  He is my shield, the strength of my salvation, and my stronghold.

(3) I will call on the LORD, who is worthy of praise, for he saves me from my enemies.

A fortress surrounds you completely.  God is our fortress and he surrounds us with his complete protection.

God Our Hiding Place

Ps. 31:19-20 (NLB)

(19) Your goodness is so great!  You have stored up great blessings for those who honor you. You have done so much for those who come to you for protection; blessing them before the watching world.

(20) You hide them in the shelter of your presence, safe from those who conspire against them.  You shelter them in your presence, far from accusing tongues.

Even though other nations accuse the US, we are sheltered by God’s presence.  Why?  Because Christians are praying!

Ps. 119:114 (NLB)

You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my only source of hope.

Who is the Word?  Jesus!

Who is our only source of hope? Jesus!
