Format of Competition

The Digest:

Six Teams qualifed for the Grand Prix Finals this season! And these six teams will each skate:

Original Dance
Free Dance A

Original Dance is worth 40% of the total score, while Free Dance A is worth 60%.

According to the rankings after these two rounds, the top six teams are slotted into "Head to Head" skates with the pairings:

6th vs 5th
4th vs 3rd
2nd vs 1st

They will each skate Free Dance B, a completely different free dance from Free Dance A. The winner of the 6th vs 5th head to head will finish 5th overall, and the other competitor in that head to head will finish 6th. The winner of the 4th vs 3rd head to head (Bronze Medal Round) will finish 3rd (Bronze) and the other pair in the round will be placed 4th. The winner of hte 2nd vs 1st head to head (Gold Medal Round) will finish 1st overall (Gold) and the other pair in that round will be 2nd overall (Silver).

Winner of the (n+1)st vs (n)th head to head will be placed in nth place,
while the other pair will be placed in the (n+1)st spot.
