The four didn't feel let down by their long awaited evening; they found themselves at a few steps from the stage and the cold wind didn't make them miss any sound, like it happened to those placed way behind. Many witnesses, though, almost all journalists and the groups themselves exhibited that day complained about the terrible airing and diffusion and apologized for delivering performances not that valuable. Even Oasis admitted they could have played way better.
On Jill's Rover though, the mood was fizzy.
"In my opinion, they were good, but they did too many new songs..."
"Maybe you are right, but after they let Robbie Williams jump on stage with them, they were great! The Live Forever as closing song was mighty...100000 people singin the chorus, what a blast!"Echoed Jill.
"That Robbie, yeah.. I would have never believed to get to see a Take That singin with Gallaghers. Cool, pretty cool!"
"Oh Chris! It takes enough that one out of head does something, that all become cool! Please! He looked idiot dancing onstage with those bleached hair...Yellow as Meli's Robbie was absurd! Sorry Meli..."
"Not your bad.. and after all my hair aren't bleached so..."
The Robbie Williams appearing onto Oasis's stage was indeed the turning point of their gig, that erased the huge nervousness among the band members till that point. The younger Gallagher, shortly after they had started to play, had invited those in the first rows, and some photographer at a boxing match after the set, and at a certain point eggs had flown, failing to catch more than ground between the barriers and the stage though. The elder Gallagher had been as usual way more professional, singin also and playing along during Verve's set "A Northern Soul" with their Wigan's collegues and friends.
"Wasn't Liam so very strange?" Said Ilaria, shocked by the impossible speeches of the singer "and what the hell he was meaning when he said "This is for all the fuckin silly long-haired people at the back smokin silly cigarettes"?"
"He was probably saying that to Evan Dando of Lemonheads, he was somewhere with their crew it has been noticed..."
"Well, anyway I loved when he entered and shouted: "BETTER THAN BLUR ANYDAY!!!" like an hurricane...eheh ..."
Melania didn't like that instead. She digged Blur, their music, nevertheless she found them too artificially built and less easy-going than allowed."He shouldn't have said so instead. Why he has always to offend them?"
"So you don't know about Liam's reasons to diss Blur for? He would like to shag Justine from Elastica, who's Damon's girlfriend..."
"Thank you Chris.. and what else from your favourite news source, News Of The World?" said Jill ironically.
All laughed out: they had a massive fun during those days together around British Countryside. They met people, shouting recklessly; they had seen the sea, and Stonehenge, then they had been part of the most famous festival in the world after Woodstock. Not too bad, for 120 pounds.
They stopped at Maida Vale for letting Chris go back home and Jill and Melania were surprised in seeing he didn't kiss Ilaria before leaving, nor saying a word to her about the subsequent day, and she didn't say a word either to him.
They had left one another, without even having to point that out.
