STAND OUT. With such a huge surge of new e-publishers,
it's getting harder and harder to promote your ezine
effectively. Engaging in a few ad swaps and listing
your ezine in directories simply doesn't make the grade
any more. So if you want a big list - without resorting
to bruising your credit card - you've got to think smart!

GIVE FREELY. Everywhere online people are searching for
anything that's free. If you're not offering any freebies, then
you're simply losing out. How much trouble would it be to
give away a free sample, free report, free web template, free

freebies away. Here are five great ideas that will
simply skyrocket your subscriber base - Free!

#1. Offer your freebies as an incentive to subscribe to
your newsletter. Go for quantity or quality. You could
write "Get 15 amazing freebies when you join" or "Join
today to claim your FREE web-authoring products valued
at $299!"

#2. Give away your free products in your newsletter. If
you regularly give away neat freebies, your subscribers
won't ever want to search for the unsubscribe URL. If
your freebies are particularly good, your readers will
soon pass copies of your ezine around - encouraging
more sign-ups.

#3. Suggest that other e-publishers use your products.
For example, the free ezine templates that I use
( freetemplate@writead.com ) are listed in my ezine along
with the following offer: "Templates make Unique and
Free gifts for Your Ezine. Just Copy the Box 'n' Paste
in Your Ezine - TODAY." The ezine templates all,
naturally, include links back to my website and ezine.

#4. Instead of ad swaps, do freebie swaps with willing
publishers. Write a simple but compelling text ad for
your product pointing out the main benefits. Here's my
own example:

Free Stuff ( http://www.top-free-stuff.com ) is a great
website listing the top 100 freebie websites. Many of
these sites encourage you to send in your product. You
only need to get listed in ten high-traffic sites to
enjoy long-term (and free) promotion for your ezine.

Just ensure that when someone requests your product,
they're directed to a web page or autoresponder that
actively promotes your ezine. Then sit back and watch
as your newsletter catches freebie hunters galore!
