I was just a sinner doomed for hell

Why would anyone want to die for me?

I know that the Lord loves everyone

But to give His life up for me, I can't see.

 

A love so great that He would die for me

Just lay down His life at all cost,

He did not die for me alone either

He died so no one would be lost.

 

I wish I could love like Jesus

I wish I had what it takes,

To lay down my life for a sinner

To love so much that my heart would break

 

God knew His Son would die for me

He grew the tree that made the cross He Hung on,

Oh a love so great! How would it feel?

Could you see your son dying on a Cross alone?

 

Oh to love like Jesus loves

Would be impossible to do,

Some people are easy to love

With God's help, Lord! I'll try to.

 

I've ask this question again and again

Why would He die for me?

I come up with the same answer every time

So you and I could be free.
