ON THE CROSS
It hurts my heart to read how they treated him
Made him carry His cross almost all the way,
How they spit in His face and laughed at Him
As He walked to Calvary that day.
I wonder just how God felt
That day He watched His son,
Being treated cruel, nailed to the cross
And hanging on the cross until it was done.
You know when He said it is finished
He was safe in His Father’s arms,
And never again could this wicked world
Cause His son any more harm.
He knew His son had to be born
To die that the world might be saved,
Crucified and sealed in a tomb so tight
On the third day HE came out of the grave.
He will never have to die again
They will never be able to spit in his face,
They will never nail him to another tree
All is forgiven because of His grace.
When they nailed Jesus to that cross
I’ve heard that love held Him on that tree,
Oh God, how He must have suffered
And thank God that love included me.
Come to JESUS He is your only hope
He will cleanse you from your sin,
He will take away your past
And never remind you of it again.
He will erase all of your yesterdays
He’ll take care of your tomorrows,
He’ll walk hand in hand with you
He’ll always ease your sorrow.
