~The 10 Commandments~

First commandment
You shall have no other gods before me.
This is pretty self-explanatory, but just in case:
money, possessions, jobs are also what he means. Anything that you place ahead of God.

Second Commandment
You shall not make for yourself an idol
in the form of anything in heaven above
or on the earth beneath or
in the waters below.
An idol is any "thing" you worship, as opposed to your creator.

Third Commandment
You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God,
for the Lord will not hold anyone
guiltless who misuses his name.
Basically, unless you are speaking to him or of him, you don't need to be using his name.

Fourth Commandment
Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
This is a simple one, keep it holy and pleasing to God.

Fifth Commandment
Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live
long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
This is one that alot of people struggle with,
you are to honor your parents, respect them, even if they haven't earned it.
It isn't about them, it is about you.

Sixth Commandment
You shall not murder.
Okay another easy one, but did you know that the bible says this?
In 1 John 3:15 Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer,
and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him."

Seventh Commandment
You shall not commit adultery.
This means no cheating on your spouse, or even if you are single.
To look on someone with lust is committing adultery in your heart.

Eighth Commandment
You shall not steal.
Ever stole anything, no matter how small, or how long ago?

Ninth Commandment
You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
That means you don't lie, no matter how small a lie. There is no such thing as a white lie!

Tenth Commandment
You shall not covet your neighbors house.
This means wanting what your friend, neighbor, or even family has, even though it doesn't belong to you.

So now lets go back over these:
Have you ever lied, even a little one? Yes?
Well that makes you a liar.

Ever taken anything that didn't belong to you, even a piece of candy? Yes?
That makes you a thief.

Ever looked on a man or woman and lusted after them? Yes?
That makes you an adulterer.

Well let's see, so far you are a lying, thieving , adulterer; are you shocked?
You may be thinking to yourself, 'I am not so bad, compared to most people I am a great person.'
The only problem is we aren't judged by other people, we are judged by God's standards.
These commandments are non-negotiable; can't live up to them?
Well guess what, none of us can ever live up to them, that is why God sent Jesus.
He paid the price for our sins so that we could be reconciled to God!
God gave us the Law so that we could recognize sin,
now that we know about it we need to repent;
ask God to forgive you for your sins and then turn away from them.
