Favorite Modern Musician My favorite Modern Musician is Bjork. It is so easy to do what everyone else is doing...but to create something new, to express something like it has never been expressed before...that is grand! Bjork is an inventor as well as a musician...I envy her for that.

Favorite Classical Musician My Favorite classical musician is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Mozart excelled in every kind of musical composition. He was composing full scale pieces at the age of 5. Most of his music is cheerful and vigorous. Even with his remarkable tallent, he had a sense of humor...he also produced deeply profound music...I can get lost in any movement of any piece that he wrote...cheerful or serious.

Favorite Realism Artist My favorite realism artist is Jan Vermeer. His paintings have a serene and timeless happiness about them. They put me into a quiet, peaceful world where I can dream myself one of his subjects...
|
Favorite Modern Artist Paul Cezanne is my favorite postimpressionism painter. He made no attempt to tell a story or express a point of view. He reflected his sensations or impressions and translated them into pictorial form. His paintings are soft and warm...they have a moving feeling of depth.

Favorite Classical Author This is a tough one for me because I love so many classical authors...Upon choosing I would have to say William Shakespeare. He truly is the finest poet who has written in the English language. I have read all of his plays, and I love all of them...he had a vast understanding of human nature...and a captivating perspective on love.

Favorite Modern Author My favorite modern author by far is Rainer Maria Rilke. His poems are saturated with richness of imagery and melody and fine shades of meaning. They have a splendid tone of self-examination and prophecy. a quote... "You should not let yourself be confused in your solitude by the fact that there is something in you that wants to move out of it. This very wish, if you use it calmly and prudently and like a tool, will help you spread out your solitude over a great distance. Most people have (with the help of conventions) turned their solutions toward what is easy and toward the easiest side of the easy; but it is clear that we must trust in what is difficult; everything alive trusts in it, everything in Nature grows and defends itself any way it can and is spontaneously itself, tries to be itself at all costs and against all opposition. We know little, but that we must trust in what is difficult is a certainty that will never abandon us; it is good to be solitary, for solitude is difficult; that something is difficult must be one more reason for us to do it."

Favorite Movie I love period movies, all of my favorite movies fall into that genre...the movie that currently love the most is Elizabeth. Growing up I had a mild obsession with Queen Elizabeth I. Her story is one of Adventure, betrayal, murder, passion and forbidden love...it has it all! The movie Elizabeth tells her story with much historical accuracy. The cinematography is artful and resonent, the costumes magnificent!
