Celebrity Visits Biker Cell!

Thursday, February 26 the Biker Cell Church was scheduled to be visited by a celebrity known world-wide. This person is so famous, that we could not announce him ahead of time. The brothers, sisters, and friends of the Biker Cell were anxiously awaiting the arrival of this guest speaker. When Thursday arrived, we were all amazed to be in the presence of Mr. TV himself. Yes, many people around the world actually worship the TV.

Think about it for a moment. How many hours a week to you spend zoning out in front of the TV? Is what you watch good, holy, or uplifting? Or are you always bombarded by images of senseless violence, fornication, adultery, and homosexuality? How many times a day do people curse the name of God on TV? I think it would be too many times to count.

How many hours a week do you spend reading God’s Word, the Bible? I can quote whole scenes of TV sitcoms I saw over 20 years ago when I was in high school. I suspect that you may be the same. How well can you quote the Bible?

How many hours a week do you spend in prayer? Is it more or less time than you spend in front of the TV? After the last supper, Jesus went with His disciples to the mount of Olives. Jesus went alone to pray and commanded Peter, James, and John to watch and pray. After a mere hour, Jesus came back and found all three were asleep. In the same way, most Christians today have fallen asleep in front of the TV. As you are reading this, how many Christians are out in the streets preaching the Gospel and handing out tracts? The Great Commission is the work of the Church. Jesus whole mission to the planet earth was to live a sinless life, preach the kingdom of God, die on the cross, and rise to sit on the right hand of the Father. Jesus whole mission was to redeem humankind. His whole plan was to save souls. And our whole mission as His disciples is too go out into all the earth and win souls for Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit for the glory of God the Father.

Like Peter, James, and John, we said that we have given our lives to Jesus Christ. We said that we were willing to die for our Lord. Then after a mere hour we fell asleep. Most of the churches on the Seacoast of New Hampshire and Maine are asleep. Are they sending out armies of soul-winners to preach the Gospel on the streets? If not, they are asleep.

Dear Christian, the Holy Spirit is speaking to your heart. He is telling you to come off of your back-slide and start obeying the Great Commission to preach the Gospel to every creature. My prayer is that you listen to God’s chastisement. But it’s your choice. Maybe you will just let yourself fall asleep so you don’t have to feel guilty. Turn on the TV. Get drunk. Fornicate. Fall asleep and forget God.

But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
