Ansonia Gilt Column Clock

This is a very nice, early clock by the Ansonia Brass Co. It has their usual 30 hour time and strike movement, which strikes the hours on a wire gong.

The condition of this clock is immaculate with the exception of some flaking on the tablet. The dial is original, and bears a patent number stamped into the zinc on the back. The hands and bob are original as well. The label in in near perfect shape, and the clock retains all it's original finish. The only thing I did was reglue the corners on the top moldings, since they had become a little loose in shipping. I, of course, used hide glue for this.

I really like this clock, simply because of all the work that went into the various moldings, turnings, and finishing techniques. The columns are gilded, and then there is a type of light brown, clear glaze used to stripe them. The tablet is also surrounded by a small gilt cove molding. The clock strikes very loudly, yet I still have it in my room, about 5 feet away from me, and I still sleep through it (and the other 13 clocks in the room).
