Samuel Marti & Cie. Slate Clock
This is a beautiful French mantle clock, made by the well known clock makers S. Marti & Cie.
The clock is made of solid slate, which is a cheaper alternative to marble. The clock has incised, and gold-filled decorations, and a beautiful enameled dial.
The movement is in very good condition, and only needed cleaning.
The clock has a few small chips, none of which detract from the piece. The clock is missing a few pieces: The original bevelled glass in the back door is missing, the original bell is missing, and I have part of the original hammer (the base only).
The clock was an absolute STEAL, on eBay. One of my best finds.
This is my temporary solution for the back door, until I can have a piece of glass cut and fitted to the door. It's simply fitted with a piece of cardboard.
