Waterbury 30 Hour Steeple Clock

This is another old Waterbury clock. It's probably about as old as the Ogee clock, about 1860. This one was in real crummy shape, considering the price I paid (it's the most expensive clock I've purchased to date, and it turned out to be the most work).

The case was damaged (missing and peeling veneer) in several spots. The latch had dug-in grooves on the inside, and the movement was dirty beyond belief. The glass was an awful eagle decal, and the face was in horrible shape (had pencil-drawn numerals overtop the originals).

Here is the list of repairs that were done to this clock:
Refinish (strip case, fix wood, revarnish)
Case regluing (the entire right side behind the "steeple" was unglued
Veneer repairs on bottom left side, and left column in 3 large areas
Veneer regluing (almost the entire left column)
Latch area was patched (the space where the latch comes into the case was so badly worn that the door could not stay shut)
Top dail support block was reglued
Dial was repainted (I was able to rub off all the pencil, and some of the dirt and numbers, and keep the original white backing. Then I redid the numerals in black)
Hands were repainted (there was permanent green marker on them)
Back cleaned, then reattached with new screws where necessary
Top movement support (little wooden block) was replaced (old one was all broken, but I still kept it)
Movement, alarm movement, gong, pendulum, and bell were cleaned
Pendulum wire was reshaped (it was all bent)
Lower glass panel was replaced with a handmade etched glass reproduction

The clock is a 30 hour time and strike, on a beautiful wire gong. It features an alarm, striking on seperate bell. The movement is marked Waterbury Clock Co Ct.
