Q: What motor did Honda use in the 88-91 Wagons?
A: In the 2wd they used the d15b2 (1.5liter), dual point fuel injecton. In the rt4wd they used the d16a6 (1.6liter), multi port fuel injection.
Q: Did Honda actually make an AWD system?
A: No, it is not AWD. It is Real Time 4 Wheel Drive. When the front wheels slip some power is sent to the rear wheels. It uses a viscous coupling system, commonly called a "Slush-box 4 Wheel Drive."
Q: What is the d15b2 out of?
A: The CRX DX, Civic DX, Sedan LX.
Q: What is the d16a6 out of, other than the RT4WD Wagon?
A: They came in the CRX and Civic Si's.
Q: Does the rt4wd Wagon use a special clutch, since it is 4wd?
A: No, it uses the same clutch that any d16a6 motor would use.
Q: Do they make a short shifter for the rt4wd Wagon?
A: No, it uses a cable linkage, unlike most other Civics.
Q: What style brakes do the Wagons use?
A: Front disc and rear drums.
Q: Can I do a rear disc conversion?
A: It has been done, but custom brakets are needed and most say that it is not worth it. Only for looks.
Q: What ECU is used in both the 4wd and 2wd?
The rt4wd uses the PM6 ECU, while the 2wd uses the PM5 ECU. (for manual transmissions)
Q: What colors did they come in?
A: So far I have seen, white, light blue, grey, black and red. Im assuming all the standard sedan colors.
Q: How does RT4WD work?
A: Like this.
Q: Can I swap a b16 (or other b series) into my wagon?
A: Yes, If you don't want to have 4wd or you already have a 2wd.
Q: Can I swap a b16 (or other b series) into my wagon and keep the 4wd?
A: Yes, but it wont be the stock 4wd system. You will need to get a hold of a CRV RT4WD system. Finding a manual CRV will most likely be a hard task.
